127 Hours In BF6, I Really Miss Vehicle Entry Animations

127 Hours In BF6, I Really Miss Vehicle Entry Animations

I’m going to be honest, I was wary of Battlefield 6 ahead of its launch, but it took me by surprise, as I keep finding myself coming back to it between other games. While I love first-person shooters, and Battlefield in general, I’m usually quite picky about the overall genre, but Battlefield 6 manages to tick all the right boxes for me. It’s action-packed without being over-the-top, the map variety is solid, I like how most of the guns feel to use, and the pacing of Conquest matches can be incredibly immersive without getting boring.

Even though there is a lot that I love about Battlefield 6, there is one missing detail that makes me long for a Battlefield 1 and Battlefield 5 feature: vehicle entry animations. Over the years, there has been some debate among the franchise’s community when it comes to these animations, but ultimately, vehicle entry animations add an extra layer to the experience that Battlefield 6 is unfortunately lacking at the moment.

Battlefield 6: All Maps, Ranked

We’ve stacked together all the maps in Battlefield 6, ranking them based on how well they play in each of the game’s core game modes.

Why Vehicles in Battlefield 1 and Battlefield 5 Hit Harder

On the surface, the lack of vehicle entry animations can seem like a small detail to be irked about, but it can really make a difference. From the pacing to the immersion, these animations help matches feel more lived in instead of just teleporting in and out of a tank. Frankly, the jarring, in-and-out entering and exiting takes me out of the game for a moment. Over all, the realism in the game is pretty solid, but there are still ways that Battlefield 6 can be more immersive, and adding vehicle entry animations is definitely one of them. Battlefield 1 and Battlefield 5 opt for realism over fast-paced entry and exit, and not only is it more satisfying, but it also makes for a more balanced experience.

With vehicle animations, players can’t snap in and out of a vehicle to avoid getting hit. Battlefield 1 and Battlefield 5‘s methods also offer far more consistency and require players to really think about the timing of when they enter a vehicle. There’s more strategy involved, since the animations force players to slow down, which makes for a stronger FPS that gets the heart racing. Vehicles in Battlefield 1 and Battlefield 5 don’t just look better with entry animations, they feel far more meaningful. Battlefield 6 has made some controversial decisions, and scrapping vehicle entry animations deserves to be one of them, as it’s a clear step in the wrong direction.

Some of Battlefield 1 and Battlefield 5’s Best Vehicle Animations

  • Putilov-Garford (Battlefield 1)
  • FT-17 Light Tank (Battlefield 1)
  • Mark V Landship (Battlefield 1)
  • Airplanes like the Rumpler C.I, Airco DH.10, and Bristol F2.B (Battlefield 1)
  • Schwimwaggen (Battlefield 5)
  • Sports Car (Battlefield 5)
  • KA-MI (Battlefield 5)
  • LVT (Battlefield 5)

Comparing Past Battlefield Vehicle Entry Animations

Battlefield 6’s Vehicle Immersion Can Still Be Saved

Just because Battlefield 6 didn’t have vehicle animations at launch doesn’t mean they can’t be added in the future. Of course, crafting these kinds of animations is easier said than done, and while it would be a great addition, it’s also not a necessity. No vehicle animations clearly hasn’t been a deal-breaker for me, since I’ve spent hours with the game, but I definitely miss them. In many ways, Battlefield 6 is one of the best entries in a long time, but it could be even greater with some extra immersive details.

Vehicles like the Panthera KHT, Cheetah 1A2, and the F-39E would be a blast to climb into and move around. Whether it’s switching seats or commanding the controls, Battlefield 6‘s vehicles could be taken to the next level. It wouldn’t just be a fun addition to the game, it would make its first-person experience that much deeper and significantly more lifelike.
