2XKO has dropped a trailer for Akali, the newest Champion coming to the playable roster on April 7. The League of Legends fighting game boasts several of the most popular characters from the MOBA, including Champions like Jinx, Blitzcrank, and Teemo, among others. 2XKO features six different Champions available from the start of the game, with later characters needing to be unlocked by using Champion Tokens or KO Points. The fighting game has also already confirmed the first two Champions set to join the game following its full release.

Riot Games revealed a pair of popular Champions as 2XKO‘s first post-launch roster additions, featuring a mix of different playstyles. Akali will join the game as an aggressive Rushdown character, utilizing her ninja techniques and a combination of high mobility and fast attacks to pressure opponents. Senna, on the other hand, will reward players who prefer to fight from a distance, establishing herself as a Zoner emphasizing careful positioning and ranged combat. Now, 2XKO has released its official gameplay reveal for Akali, showing off the full range of tricks at the Ionian ninja’s disposal.

2XKO Reveals Akali is Debuting on April 7

2XKO debuted its Akali gameplay reveal trailer on March 31, showcasing her kit within the fighting game. The fast-paced, action-packed trailer shows off Akali stringing together some impressive combos, utilizing kicking attacks and her kunai to quickly tear down opponents. The showcase teases a smoke bomb technique reminiscent of Akali’s Twilight Shroud ability, appearing to allow her to dodge attacks in order to close the gap on enemies. The Akali gameplay trailer also shows off her Ultimate, slashing through enemies in a rising cloud of smoke. In addition, the trailer’s description revealed that Akali’s release date is April 7.

Akali’s implementation in 2XKO looks to bring plenty of references to the champion’s original appearance in League of Legends. Her kit includes several attacks that feature the Champion throwing a set of kunai, potentially referencing her Q ability, Five Point Strike. The Champion also uses several dashing attacks that are likely subtle nods to her Ultimate, Perfect Execution, which sees Akali dashing through enemies multiple times and dealing damage. Akali is expected to be released with an alternate costume based on one of her League of Legends skins as well, though the specific skin has not been confirmed.

The addition of Akali to 2XKO should be a bright spot for fans, as the game has already struggled since launch. Riot Games announced a significant downsizing of 2XKO‘s development team just weeks after its launch, claiming that its “overall momentum” had fallen short of expectations. The League of Legends fighting game has also seen significant criticism from fans over the pricing of its cosmetics, with some bundles in the game selling for as much as $100. Smaller cosmetics have also been subject to backlash from fans, with even animated Finishers costing as much as $15.

2XKO has lots on the way for fans beyond the debut of Akali, teasing some of its plans for the game’s future in February. Duo Play was said to be a major focus for Riot Games during 2026, teasing plans to add a local co-op mode for fans to queue up together in online matches from the same platform. Riot Games also reaffirmed its plan to stick to the high skill ceiling design of 2XKO‘s Champions, focusing on making each character easy to play but hard to master. 2XKO should have plenty of room to grow, with Riot Games continuing to improve its functionality and add even more Champions to the roster.
