Radiant Exodus is a first-person shooter that is currently free to keep on Steam, but that will change soon because the game plans to charge new players starting November 17. At the time of writing, Radiant Exodus has around 50 Steam reviews, which is not a lot, but more than 90% of them are positive.
What’s interesting is that Radiant Exodus launched on Steam in May 2025 with a $4.99 price tag. After several adjustments, developer Horrawr decided to make the game free to play in August 2026. The developer said, “We want to make [Radiant Exodus] available to more players and allow everyone to experience [it] without any purchase required.” Now, it appears that Horrawr is returning to a paid model after a few months of free access.
Claim Radiant Exodus on Steam Before It Becomes a Paid Game Again
- Genre: FPS, Horror, Survival
- Developer: Horrawr
- Release Date: May 24, 2025
Announced via a new Steam Community post, Radiant Exodus is preparing to become a paid game again on November 17, 2026. Players who manage to add this survival FPS game to their libraries before that date will be able to continue playing at no cost after the change. Developer Horrawr has not addressed why the game is becoming paid or how much it will cost after November 17. However, it has assured Steam users that “anyone who adds Radiant Exodus to their Steam library while it’s free will keep it permanently.”
Gameplay-wise, Radiant Exodus is a first-person shooter with horror elements. It follows Sarah, a former military trooper trapped in the middle of a strange outbreak seemingly caused by a failed scientific experiment on superhumans. Radiant Exodus‘ survival elements require players to manage ammo and critical supplies while fighting strange creatures. But to be clear, Radiant Exodus is a linear experience with handcrafted encounters, so it may offer limited replay value.

Find the odd one out before the timer hits zero.
Another noteworthy detail is Radiant Exodus‘ campaign length. According to some players, it usually takes less than an hour to complete the story. This makes Radiant Exodus an ideal free game for a short gaming session, though players looking for a more expansive experience might want to check out some other shooter games that recently became free on Steam.
One good alternative is Steam’s Cyberfrags ’69. Like Radiant Exodus, Cyberfrags started as a paid game before its developer decided to make it free to play. However, Cyberfrags is a multiplayer first-person shooter rather than a linear experience, offering high replay value and incredibly fast-paced gameplay.
