PlayStation 5 gamers will soon have a new open world co-op game to play in the form of RuneScape: Dragonwilds, and many will potentially able able to play it without even buying it. RuneScape: Dragonwilds is an open world survival game for up to four players. Set in a beautiful fantasy world, RuneScape: Dragonwilds features many of the tropes that fans have come to expect from the survival genre, but with a RuneScape-twist.
RuneScape: Dragonwilds features RPG elements similar to the original RuneScape, with players able to level up their skills in various categories. Not only that, but RuneScape: Dragonwilds is populated by monsters that RuneScape fans should be readily familiar with. Players will be able to find and embark on quests, but they can also spend their time gathering resources and building structures. There’s a Creative Mode for those that just want to focus on building and enjoying the world, and there’s also a Hardcore Mode for those that want an even stiffer challenge.
When is RuneScape: Dragonwilds Coming to PS5?
RuneScape: Dragonwilds has been available on PC in early access since last year and has enjoyed a great deal of success. RuneScape: Dragonwilds has sold over 1 million copies and has earned an impressive “Very Positive” rating on Steam, with an average rating of 4.6/5, or 9.2/10. Clearly, Steam users have been impressed with RuneScape: Dragonwilds in early access, which makes its PS5 launch that much more exciting. Unless something goes wrong with the PS5 port, gamers on the platform can look forward to a high-quality open world co-op game that they can play with their friends when RuneScape: Dragonwilds releases on Tuesday, September 15.
RuneScape: Dragonwilds retails for $29.99, but some PS5 gamers will be able to play it in its entirety without actually buying it. As it turns out, RuneScape: Dragonwilds is a rare day one PS Plus Extra game, meaning it will be available through the service as soon as it releases. A PS Plus subscription is required to play PS5 games online anyway, so it’s not a stretch to assume that many gamers interested in RuneScape: Dragonwilds already have an Extra tier subscription. RuneScape: Dragonwilds will be playable through PS Plus until it’s eventually removed from the service, so subscribers who want to keep it indefinitely may still want to take the plunge and buy it.
Survival game fans on PS5 are eating good lately. Besides the upcoming release of RuneScape: Dragonwilds, they were also recently treated to Valheim‘s 1.0 release on PS5. Next month, they can look forward to Enshrouded releasing on PS5, providing yet another open world co-op survival game experience on the platform.
