Grand Theft Auto Online players can score $500,000 of in-game cash for free, plus a car livery by watching Twitch streamers. However, there’s some fine print on which streamers players can tune into and how long they need to spend doing it to get their GTA Online goodies.

There’s plenty of ways to make money in Grand Theft Auto Online, but the price of some cars, businesses, and homes can be quite steep. Thankfully, the game rotates a variety of bonuses to standard earnings, and giveaways like this one give players one more way to get some in-game cash without having to grind, which is always a plus.

Gamers who are hoping to net some extra cash in-game can easily do so by watching select Twitch streamers playing GTA 5. The game is currently holding a collaboration with Twitch, and all players need to do is to tune in for a few hours to get everything. Watching for one hour will reward players with $200,000 of in-game GTA$, two hours adds an extra $300,000, and three hours unlocks the Street Samurai Livery. The campaign started on February 26, and will run until March 4 at 2:59 AM Pacific Time. However, there’s a small catch: players have to watch participating Japanese streamers to earn GTA Online money.

Players can access participating streams easily by logging into their Twitch account and going to the Drops and Rewards page. From there, scroll down or do a search for Grand Theft Auto V. The list should show a “Japan Community Series,” and list the rewards previously mentioned. Twitch will display a series of channels that are participating, and a “more” link that will run a search for any Japanese-language channels playing GTA 5.

Players will also need to connect their Twitch and Rockstar Games accounts if they haven’t done so already, which can be accomplished from the same page. Players are given a grace period of 14 days after earning the drops to link their accounts. Once the Twitch drops are earned, players will need to go to their Drops Inventory page and choose “Claim Now” to send the reward to their account. However, players should also be aware that it can take up to three days for the earned drops to appear in-game.

Given the time difference between the US and Japan, players may not initially see any available streams to watch. In order to get the drops, it may be necessary to stream Twitch in the middle of the night in the player’s local time zone. For example, participating streamers Middleeetv and たここちゃん (Takokochan) most recently streamed GTA 5 at 1 and 2 am Pacific Time, respectively. However, players don’t have to watch for three hours non-stop, and can split up the streaming across multiple channels if necessary.

There are plenty of things to spend the $500,000 towards in GTA Online, including the fairly recent additions of Mansions in the game. Mansions start at $11,500,000 in the game, so the $500,000 won’t go very far, but is a step in the right direction. These Mansions also unlock an exclusive mission with GTA 5 protagonist Michael, who fans have been hoping to see in the online component of the game for years. Those who find themselves still short of funds may want to check out the weekly earning bonuses, which apply to the same time period as the Twitch campaign. Drift Races are offering 3x the usual amount of GTA$, Motorcycle Club Weed Sell missions earn 2x the usual amount, and Exotic Exports can be sold for 4x the usual. Additionally, those with Auto Shops can complete any Robbery Contract to earn a one-time bonus of GTA$300,000.
