As I bookmark games from PlayStation’s State of Play to try later, one game that immediately shot to the top of my wishlist was Yakoh Shinobi Ops. Developed by Acquire, a studio well-known for their ninja-flavored stealth games, Yakoh Shinobi Ops looks like it combines strategy RPG gameplay with Assassin’s Creed-style stealth action. In other words, it looks cool as hell.
From the little bit of gameplay we got, it looks like in Yakoh you (and up to three friends, it seems) infiltrate a Japanese castle filled with demons. What really made this game stand out was the unique camera perspective. Typically stealth action games are third- or first-person, but in Yakoh it’s isometric, giving the game a unique strategy RPG-like feel. The reveal trailer didn’t show us any combat so I don’t yet know if the game also plays like a strategy RPG or just looks like one. Yakoh Shinobi Ops releases on PlayStation in 2027 and I’m eager to see what the game has in store.
