- Toni Storm, the reigning AEW Women’s World Champion, has been added to the game as part of the Season 2 DLC pass, along with new premium music tracks and cosmetic items.
The AEW: Fight Forever roster is getting a little bigger with the addition of Toni Storm, the currently reigning AEW Women’s World Champion. All-Elite Wrestling’s more retro-style answer to the WWE 2K series finally launched back in June after a nearly three-year-long development cycle and several delays. Reactions to AEW: Fight Forever have been somewhat mixed, with some players praising its return to the classic style of beloved squared circle simulators like WWF No Mercy and others bemoaning its uneven presentation and shortage of gameplay modes.
Despite this rough start, publisher THQ Nordic and former WWE video game developer Yuke’s are continuing their support for AEW: Fight Forever by adding new match types and playable wrestlers all year long. First came Fight Forever‘s Superstar Stampede in August, an online battle royale mode in which players battle it out inside a baseball stadium. December saw the addition of “Beat The Elite,” a gauntlet that pits players against 10 opponents, leading up to a final confrontation with a member of The Elite. Additionally, AEW Fight Forever fans can now take to the ring as Anthony Bowens and Max Caster of The Acclaimed.
AEW Fight Forever’s Continued Support Could Be a Double-Edged Sword
While Tony Khan himself has promised that more content is coming to AEW Fight Forever, that actually might not be the best approach for the company.
Now another big-name performer is joining in on the digital mayhem of AEW: Fight Forever, as revealed in a new trailer on the THQ Nordic YouTube Channel. Toni Storm, who was previously announced as part of AEW Fight Forever’s Season 2 DLC pass, is now available to purchase and download, as heralded by a montage of the “Timeless” wrestler in action. In addition to Storm herself, players can get access to new premium music tracks and cosmetic items for their custom characters in the newly-released “The Storm is Coming” DLC.
As of this writing, Toni Storm is on her third run as the AEW Women’s World Champion, which she won from fellow AEW: Fight Forever playable wrestler Hikaru Shida during November’s Full Gear pay-per-view event. Before signing with All-Elite Wrestling in 2022, Storm competed in WWE for nearly four years, during which she appeared as a playable character in WWE 2K20 and WWE 2K22. The latter appearance was a peculiar case, as it came after Storm left the company in 2021, similar to many other WWE 2K22 roster members who departed before its long-delayed release.
Toni Storm’s recent addition to AEW: Fight Forever marks her first appearance in a video game since joining All-Elite Wrestling, and it comes while she’s riding high as the current AEW Women’s World Champion. Players can now see for themselves just what makes her such a dominant competitor in the squared circle in AEW: Fight Forever, as well as enjoy the many bonuses included in the “The Storm is Coming” DLC pack.
AEW Fight Forever
A throwback to classic wrestling titles like WWF No Mercy, AEW Fight Forever marks the promotion’s first step into the gaming landscape. Along with a career mode, the game offers a few creation modes, including genre standards like create-a-wrestler, along with match types unique to AEW such as the Casino Battle Royale.
