Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace has received a major update on PlayStation 5, 27 years after the game was first released. It’s been almost three years since Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace was first ported to PS4 and PS5, and the game has received a surprising quality-of-life update that could give fans a reason to return.
The original PS1 version of Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace received mixed reviews back in 1999. It harkens back to an era when movie tie-in games were extremely common, but very few were actually good. Still, the game certainly has its own charm, and there’s an entire generation of gamers who hold a deep nostalgia for The Phantom Menace, which is why it was such an interesting addition to the PlayStation Plus Classic catalog a few years ago.
Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace Now Has PS5 Trophies
As spotted by PSNProfiles, the PS4 and PS5 versions of Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace have been updated to add a Trophy list. The list, which has 21 Trophies in total, is largely based on completing all the levels in the game, but it also includes a few more creative ones for Trophy hunters who want a bit more of a challenge.

Find the odd one out before the timer hits zero.
Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace won’t go down as the easiest PS5 Trophy list of all time, but it’s definitely an achievable Platinum, even for the average gamer. Completing the Otoh Gunga level without any casualties might prove to be a pain, as will defeating eight enemies with one Thermal Detonator. Still, there’s nothing here to suggest that this Platinum will take very long at all.

It’s unclear why Trophies were added to Star Wars: Episode 1 – The Phantom Menace so long after its release and addition to the PS Plus Classics catalog, but it’s a welcome update nonetheless. The game is available to PS Plus Premium subscribers, or can be purchased on the store for just $4.99. It may feel a little dated nowadays, but it’s not bad for a pretty quick Platinum Trophy.
It’s an excellent time to be a fan of Star Wars video games. This year alone, Star Wars: Zero Company and Galactic Racer have delivered two critically acclaimed titles in wildly different genres, showcasing the franchise’s versatility. EA recently confirmed a new Respawn game rumored to be Star Wars Battlefront 3, while the same developer is also working on Star Wars Jedi 3. In short, things are good, and they’ll be even better over the next few years.
