Resident Evil Requiem launched at the end of February, and it’s seen very strong sales so far in the US and worldwide. In the US, after just two months on sale, Requiem is now one of the top five best-selling Resident Evil games in the US based on dollar sales, Circana has announced.

The four games ahead of it are Resident Evil 5 (2009), Resident Evil 4 (2023), Resident Evil: Village (2021), and the original Resident Evil 4 (2005).

Requiem has sold more than 6 million copies worldwide through mid-March, and it is 2026’s No. 1 best-selling game so far in the US. Capcom had sold 183 million Resident Evil games through the end of 2025, so with Requiem’s 6 million+ sales added on, that number is nearing 190 million.

The best-selling individual Resident Evil game of all time, meanwhile, is 2019’s Resident Evil 2. As mentioned above, however, it’s not even in the top five for the US.

Requiem got solid reviews, but sentiment shifted somewhat after Capcom announced it was working with Nvidia on its new AI-based DLSS5 technology. Requiem’s Grace Ashcroft was one of the characters highlighted in Nvidia’s sizzle reel for the technology, and people quickly roasted Capcom for working with Nvidia on this new tech.

The Resident Evil franchise will grow in a big way this year with a new movie from acclaimed horror director Zach Cregger, who previously made Barbarian and Weapons. His new Resident Evil movie, which features no characters or storylines from the games, releases in theaters this September.

Tge Resident Evil franchise, meanwhile, celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. The first Resident Evil game was released in March 1996.
