Another month, another patch of free games to claim. Steam, Epic Games Store, Amazon Prime Gaming (aka Amazon Luna), and more will be handing out a bunch of free PC games throughout August 2026, and claiming them typically only requires pressing a few links (or a Prime subscription in the case of Luna). August’s free games lineup should include AAA giveaways and indie gems, both of which can be incredibly exciting.

Console users cannot rely on completely free titles, but they can at least look forward to PlayStation Plus and Xbox Game Pass‘ latest arrivals. Both subscriptions bring in 10+ games per month, including a couple of major titles. PS Plus is handing out Dying Light 2 in August, while Game Pass will be welcoming Beast of Reincarnation to its library. Dome: Become Thyself

A special case: Dome: Become Thyself recently finished its playtest, so it will soon make the transition to its paid 1.0 release. For the time being, the game is still free, so give it a go while you still can. Dome: Become Thyself is a roguelite RPG that tasks you with learning the language of its world to progress further in runs.

Epic Games Store Giveaways

OTXO & Sol Cesto

Epic Games Store’s first weekly free games for August are OTXO and Sol Cesto, two indie darlings with rather eye-catching visuals. The former is a top-down shooter akin to something like Hotline Miami, albeit with a really cool color palette that emphasizes the bloodbath. Meanwhile, Sol Cesto is a roguelite that leans into horror territory with creative monster designs and unsettling visuals. While neither game is massive, both of them are relatively well regarded.

In recent months, Epic Games Store has added a weekly free mobile game to help promote its standalone app. If this is your first time picking up one of these games, you will need to download the app first, and all the steps are outlined in the link above. Mutazione is the current freebie.

Amazon Luna / Prime Gaming (Requires Amazon Prime Membership)

Free Games For GOG, Epic Games Store, and Amazon Games

Amazon Prime Gaming, aka Amazon Luna, might be the most overlooked source of monthly free-to-claim games. At any given moment, you can pick up around 15 titles, including some pretty big names (Mafia 3 and Tomb Raider IV-VI were both free in July). All you need is an Amazon Prime subscription and a willingness to visit Amazon Luna’s “Claim Games” page, which contains a bunch of titles spread across different sites like GOG, Epic Games Store, Amazon Games, and Legacy Games.

Currently, you can claim about 18 games, with most of the giveaways expiring in August. A few of the bigger names are Terraforming Mars, In Sound Mind, XCOM: Chimera Squad, Zoria: Age of Shattering, and Escape Academy, although I would recommend claiming every single freebie on offer.

Alienware Giveaway (Steam)

Dwarven Realms

While fairly rare, sites like Alienware and Legion occasionally hand out free games, and the giveaways typically last for as long as keys are available rather than being tied to a specific date. Consequently, you need to really act quickly to take advantage of these deals, as they won’t be around forever, and we cannot predict how long they will be available.

As long as you have 10 ARP points, you can claim Dwarven Realms from Alienwarearena.com. Basically, you need to be an AWA user, and ARP points are earned through daily actions. 10 points should be fairly easy to collect.

Free Indie Games That Might Not Be On Steam

After Steam and Epic Games Store, Itch.io is the most reliable source for free games, and the site is a good way to discover some hidden gems.
