Dragon’s Dogma 2 is one of the most anticipated games of the year, so much so that some fans are already calling it their “game of the year” and it hasn’t even been released yet. Based on what developer Capcom has shown of the game so far, it could very well take home that title at some award shows once it releases, as it appears it will be one of the biggest and most ambitious games of 2024.
As the sequel to Dragon’s Dogma and its enhanced version Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen, Dragon’s Dogma 2 sees players once again step into the shoes of an Arisen and set off on a journey to defeat the dragon that has marked them. Apart from offering a brand-new story, Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a significant upgrade from its predecessor, as it comes with several new and improved features.
One Dragon’s Dogma 2 Class Could Reshape Future Fantasy RPGs
The new Trickster class in Dragon’s Dogma 2’s Trickster is breaking new ground while outlining how other games can do the same.
There Are Ten Playable Vocations (Classes) in Dragon’s Dogma 2
Dragon’s Dogma 2 will let players play as one of ten different vocations (classes). Many of Dragon’s Dogma‘s vocations have made their way over to Dragon’s Dogma 2 in one way or another, but there are several new vocations based on their counterparts from the original, as well as a brand-new one in Wayfarer. At the beginning of the game, players will be given the option of choosing between the Fighter, Archer, Thief, and Mage vocations, with the remaining vocations unlocking as they progress through the story.

Dragon’s Dogma 2’s Open World Is Much Larger Than Its Predecessor’s
One thing Capcom has made certain about Dragon’s Dogma 2 is that its open world is four times larger than its predecessor’s. Dragon’s Dogma‘s map was considered massive for its time, but the game was also praised for how well it utilized its open world. As such, players can likely expect Dragon’s Dogma 2‘s open world to follow the same rules. Capcom never officially disclosed the size of Dragon’s Dogma‘s map, but fans have estimated it to be somewhere between two and three square kilometers. If that is true, then Dragon’s Dogma 2‘s map could likely be anywhere from eight to twelve square kilometers, potentially making it larger than Marvel’s Spider-Man‘s New York.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 Has a Highly Detailed Character Creator
Dragon’s Dogma is lauded for having one of the most detailed character creators in gaming history. Now, Dragon’s Dogma 2 aims to go above and beyond with an even more detailed character creation system. While an even more detailed character creator than the first game may seem intimidating, however, Dragon’s Dogma 2‘s character creation will offer accessibility options in terms of base presets. There are two body types for each race, nine base bodies for each body type, and a massive number of base head options created from real human face scans. Once they’ve selected their base body and head types, players can then adjust their character’s appearance down to the most minute details.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 Will Let Players Use Pawns
In Dragon’s Dogma and Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen, players could enlist the help of Pawns, AI characters who would follow them into battle. Pawns are making a return in Dragon’s Dogma 2, allowing players to create one Pawn and then recruit two more Pawns that belong to other players. Pawns in Dragon’s Dogma 2 have also been improved from the first game, and they will be customizable with beneficial specializations that can assist players with various tasks throughout the game.
There are bound to be countless more features in Dragon’s Dogma 2, as the developer has claimed it is a much larger game than its predecessor. As such, it is likely to keep players on their toes, even those who have little or no experience with the first game.
