Adrian has been writing, critiquing, and thinking about games since he first picked up an N64 controller many years ago. These days he writes reviews, news, and features for Game Rant and believes games should be held to the same artistic standards as books, movies, and television shows. When he’s not writing for Game Rant, Adrian writes even more reviews for Sirus Gaming and likes to get nerdy about tech and retro games at HackerNoon. Outside the gaming world, he spends plenty of time enjoying movies or listening to every genre of music under the sun. The man accused of carrying out the infamous 2022 GTA 6 hack is scheduled to stand trial on November 9, just 10 days before Rockstar’s long-awaited game finally launches. After four years, the latest development in the first-ever GTA 6 leak brings one of the game’s biggest pre-release controversies back into focus at a strangely fitting time.
GTA 6 Leaker Trial Begins Just Days Before Launch
According to a LinkedIn post by Red Lion Chambers, alleged hacker Arion Kurtaj is now scheduled to stand trial at Woolwich Crown Court on November 9, after being assessed as fit to plead following two years of hospital treatment. Kurtaj was previously found unfit to plead in 2023, meaning the jury did not determine criminal guilt in the usual way and instead considered whether he committed the alleged acts. Jurors found that he had committed the acts connected to 12 offenses, after which the court ordered an indefinite hospital order.
Kurtaj’s case later reached the Court of Appeal, which ruled that evidence concerning six earlier hacking offenses should not have been admitted but ultimately left the jury’s findings intact. The case also returns to court as GTA 6 faces another major gameplay leak, this time involving roughly 25 minutes of alleged footage from an unrelated source.
