Apex Legends is crossing over with Gundam on March 10, bringing new cosmetics and a limited-time takeover of Wildcard. While several crossover events have taken place in Apex Legends, they are few and far between. As a result, this upcoming one with the Gundam franchise could be worth checking out.
Season 28 of Apex Legends, known as Breach, began on February 10 and introduced Hardlight, along with significant changes to some Legends, including a Fuse rework. Despite these highlights, some players believe the latest season is lacking in content, as no new Legends or major map alterations were introduced. While Respawn Entertainment has shared a roadmap for Apex Legends that outlines some of its plans for the remainder of 2026 and the beginning of 2027, many were hoping for more content sooner rather than later. Though not what some might have had in mind, the battle royale is at least hosting a new event soon.

Apex Legends x Gundam Event Starts on March 10
As Season 28 continues, Respawn has unveiled the Apex Legends x Gundam Event. The upcoming event begins on March 10 and includes a takeover of the Wildcard game mode, adding abilities and more themed around the popular anime franchise. Specifically, this new limited-time version of the mode takes place on Broken Moon. However, the landscape has been altered for the event, with the map now featuring destroyed Mobile Suits, Wing Gundam statues, and ships fighting in the sky. Beyond the changes to the scenery, the iconic Buster Rifle can be found in care packages, giving the user powerful abilities, such as being able to shoot laser beams that penetrate cover. Bit Staves can also be used to gain the upper hand in battle.

It should be noted that the Gundam event will add some new Wild Cards to the mix. These include Epyon’s Lash, Heavyarms Salvo, Zero Sacrifice, and Zero Rebirth. Each of these new abilities is themed around the Gundam franchise and should help make the already chaotic game mode even more exciting. Notably, Zero Rebirth gives players a second chance after being knocked by sending them into the void and back into the battle with 1HP, along with temporary invulnerability and health regen.
New Wild Cards
- Epyon’s Lash: Adds a magnetic melee pull Tactical ability, and more.
- Heavyarms Salvo: Marks enemies for air support missile strikes after landing multiple hits.
- Zero Sacrifice: Adds the option to trigger a self-destruct explosion on knock, taking nearby enemies with you.
- Zero Rebirth: Enter the Void when knocked, then exit with 1 HP, temporary invulnerability, and health regen.
Besides a revamped Wildcard mode, the Gundam event will introduce some new cosmetics for some of the characters in Apex Legends. While not every Legend is getting a skin, eight of them will receive the Gundam treatment. These include Alter, Conduit, Crypto, Gibraltar, Mirage, Octane, Revenant, and Valkyrie. According to Respawn, the skins were “tailored to the Legend’s personality, playstyle, and lore.” In addition to these, the developer has noted that players can get an Epic Char Aznable-inspired Sparrow Skin and more items in the Reward Shop by earning medals. Of course, the event also features Gundam-flavored skins for weapons and new Mythics: Epyon Heat Rod and Beam Saber.
Gundam-Inspired Skins
- Alter: Gundam Epyon
- Conduit: Gundam Aerial
- Crypto: Freedom Gundam
- Gibby: Xi Gundam
- Mirage: Destiny Gundam Spec II
- Octane: GQuuuuuux
- Revenant: Gundam Deathscythe Hell
- Valkyrie: Wing Gundam Zero
Along with in-game content, the Gundam crossover extends to physical merchandise. To help celebrate the collaboration, Bandai Namco will release three limited-edition Apex Legends-inspired Model Kits (GUNPLA). These models are themed after Crypto, Valkyrie, and Alter, respectively. Pre-orders for the merchandise begin on March 18 on the Apex Legends Shop and PREMIUM BANDAI.
Hopefully, this upcoming crossover can inject some new excitement into Apex Legends, as the battle royale looks to stay relevant. It is worth mentioning that this event will come shortly after Apex Legends nerfed Octane again. The developer continues to tweak the hero meta in Season 28 to find a balance that satisfies the community. Time will tell what other changes come in the weeks following the Gundam-themed event.
