ARC Raiders players on PlayStation 5 Pro will soon be getting a significant game upgrade, completely free of charge. With ARC Raiders‘ upcoming 1.26 update, gamers on the PS5 Pro will benefit from an upgraded version of PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), improving the visuals with machine-learning-based upscaling technology.
ARC Raiders launched in October 2025, and quickly became one of the biggest game launches of last year. The game, which was the second title from The Finals developer Embark Studios, has helped popularize extraction shooters, following in the footsteps of Escape From Tarkov as one of the most popular games in the genre. Almost six months on from its launch, ARC Raiders‘ player count has finally started to slow down, but the developer’s support for the game remains excellent.
One of ARC Raiders’ Most Popular Maps Is Borderline Unplayable for Some Players
ARC Raiders fans call for Embark Studios to make a major change to one of the game’s most popular maps, as it is borderline unplayable for some.
ARC Raiders PS5 Pro Upgrade Improves PSSR
As revealed on the PlayStation Blog, the ARC Raiders 1.26 update, releasing on April 28, will bring a free upgrade for PlayStation 5 Pro users. Those who play on the platform will enjoy improved visual clarity thanks to the latest version of PSSR, the upscaling technique that “analyzes game images pixel by pixel to reconstruct a sharper, higher-quality output.” According to the update details, players should be able to notice the improvements immediately, particularly in “demanding, detail-rich environments.” Crucially, the latest PSSR version significantly reduces visual artifacts such as flickering and shimmering, while also handling moving geometry more accurately than other upscaling techniques. The blog particularly highlights the rain system, which should see big improvements thanks to reduced ghosting on translucent effects.
The PSSR upgrade is available exclusively for PlayStation 5 Pro users. Those who game on the base PS5 will still have access to Temporal Super Resolution (TSR) upscaling, and nothing changes in this regard. Embark Studios says that it plans to “continue to look for opportunities to push image quality further as new technologies become available,” offering hope that ARC Raiders could look even better in the future, too.
ARC Raiders‘ Riven Tides update will be the most significant content drop for the game to date. The new map should help to breathe new life into the extraction shooter, where players will face the ARC Turbine, the latest ARC enemy. It’s going to be a very exciting period for the game, and with the update set to drop on April 28, gamers don’t have long to wait at all until they’re able to hop into the action.

Despite ARC Raiders‘ success, developer Embark Studios isn’t resting on its laurels with its flagship title. The studio has consistently delivered quality updates for the game since launch, with Riven Tides being the last remaining content featured on the ARC Raiders 2026 roadmap released back in January. It’s not clear whether the developer plans to maintain the same update pace for the rest of the year, and hopefully, there will be an updated roadmap in the coming weeks to shed light on what is to come after Riven Tides. If updates continue at this rate throughout 2026, then it’s going to be a massive year for ARC Raiders fans.
