ARC Raiders Players Want One Annoying Extraction Problem Fixed

Some ARC Raiders players are calling on Embark to address issues with small lips and ledges being unclimbable while in the down but not out (DBNO) state, after clips of players struggling to extract at Raider Hatches while downed have gone viral. As it stands, ARC Raiders technically allows players to extract while they are in the DBNO state, but many players are finding this easier said than done.

As a PvPvE extraction shooter, a core part of ARC Raiders‘ gameplay is extracting without being killed in order to hang onto any loot found during a match. The DBNO state gives ARC Raiders players a small buffer after having their health depleted before they are officially considered dead and lose their inventory. During this period, players can attempt to crawl to an extraction point and successfully escape with their loot, but their movement is slow, and their health bar will steadily decrease, at which point they will be officially dead.

Reddit user Nevborn980 posted a clip of their character attempting to use a Raider Hatch while downed to the ARC Raiders subreddit, which received a lot of attention as other players were quick to chime in with their own similar experiences. One commenter noted that “it’s not just hatches, there’s a lot of terrain that should be easily walkable but for some reason you just slip or walk in place,” while another shared the same sentiment, saying “this game has a slipping surface problem.”

Raider Hatches are intended to be a way for players to quickly escape back to the safety of Speranza in the event that things get out of hand while topside, provided they have a Raider Hatch Key on hand. Being in the DBNO state seems like the perfect chance to use one of these hatches, assuming the player can reach one before their draining health bar expires. Unfortunately, it seems that these hatches are far trickier to use while downed than they normally would be, defeating their purpose somewhat.

This game has a slipping surface problem.

Although ARC Raiders patch 1.2.0 increased the range within which players can interact with them, it seems like the problem has not been completely solved. As another Redditor, user Druidik, details in a separate post, it is possible to access Raider Hatches while downed, and the update makes it easier to do so. However, players still have to hit the ledge of the hatch at just the right angle in order to reach it.

This seems like a step in the right direction, but it is ultimately still too much of a penalty for downed raiders to suffer when the Raider Hatch mechanic seems designed to be used in this very type of situation. Hopefully, the “slippery surface” problem continues to be addressed as ARC Raiders receives more updates.
