It’s not often that a quest in Arc Raiders sends you topside with an explicit goal of downing one of the game’s biggest foes, but you’d best be prepared when it does. In the case of Settled in Full, you’ll be going up against a dangerous Bastion so that you can take a Bastion Cell for its corpse.
If you’re heading into fight against a Bastion with the goal of obtaining a Bastion Cell, we highly recommend you bring an augment with a safe pocket. It’d be a shame to waste your time and resources getting the cell only to lose it in a bad turn of events.
When you’re ready to take down a Bastion for Settled in Full, check the tips below.
Where to find Bastions
Bastions can be found on every map, but there are two spots that we find to be the absolute best locations for taking out these dangerous foes: Loading Bay on Stella Montis and Marano Park on Buried City.
Both of these spots contain adequate cover and are located in central zones where other players have a tendency to offer help. In the case of the Loading Bay, especially, you’ll nearly always find that other players join in on the fun.
How to kill Bastions
How you kill a Bastion will largely depend on what kind of gear you have available in your stash. If you have a lot of high-end materials, grenades, or guns, you can probably take these bad boys down pretty easily. Otherwise, you’re going to have to be a little safer about things.
The quickest (but most expensive) way
The safest way to kill a Bastion is to bring in Wolfpack grenades (four or so are usually enough). Get behind some cover, then toss the Wolfpacks into the air above the Bastion to watch it rain down explosions. Easy peasy.
You can also use other high-power grenades like Blaze Grenades, though it’ll be a slower process due to the fire causing damage over time, meaning more time spent evading the Bastion’s deadly machine-gun fire.
If you’re out of grenades, a Hullcracker with a lot of ammo can be used to chip away at the enemy. Placing some shots on the yellow canister on its backside can speed the process up, but it’s tough to aim a Hullcracker there sometimes.
The old-fashioned (but cheaper) way
If you’re lacking a lot of firepower, you can still take down a Bastion with plenty of healing items and a Ferro or Anvil. Just make sure you have quite a few stacks of heavy ammo.
Utilize cover and shoot the yellow canister on the Bastion’s backside. To make this easier, you can first target the yellow spots on its knees, which will eventually drop it to the ground and stun it for a bit.
As always, any grenades (including lower-power options) can help speed things along, though your heavy ammo shots are likely to be doing most of the work in a scenario like this.
The Arc Raiders master way
If you’re up for the risk and feel confident in your abilities, you can take down a Bastion with a Lure Grenade and a Deadline. Use the Lure Grenade to distract this big ARC, then go behind it and place a Deadline on it. If you’re successful, this can end up being a one-hit kill.
You can always use an Electromagnetic Cloak to get close and place a Deadline, too, but this is an even riskier choice. If the Bastion does notice you for even a moment, its rapid-fire machine gun can send you back to Speranza in a body bag before you can say “friendly!”
With a Bastion down for the count and a Bastion Cell obtained, you’ll be all set. For more on Arc Raiders, you can take a look at our full quest list.
