As one of the most watched streamers on Twitch, Asmongold’s stream was witnessed by thousands of viewers across the globe.
Though he is a controversial content creator, Asmongold’s ability to reach an audience is one that he has utilized effectively for over a decade. The Texas-based streamer began his career with gameplay videos and broadcasts mostly focused on World of Warcraft and its PVP game modes. While he occasionally returns to Azeroth, Asmongold has pivoted his core content toward Just Chatting streams to discuss political and societal topics across Texas and the US. Despite his history of inflammatory comments, Asmongold remains one of Twitch’s most-watched content creators.
Asmongold Vents Frustration at US Midterm Election Results
After seeing the defeat of several Republicans across the US, including Texas Governor Greg Abbott, Asmongold made his displeasure known. As seen via clips shared on Twitter and TikTok from the midterm reaction broadcast, Asmongold said that he was mad that the midterms were a sharp rebuke of the Trump administration across the nation. Although he stated that he “voted for Trump to get rid of DEI” in 2024, Asmongold said that the administration failed to keep any promises that were made before. Additionally, with his home state of Texas flipping from a Republican-led legislature to one that will see the Democratic Party take command of several offices in January, Asmongold said, “It’s not good at all.” According to the AP, Governor-elect Gina Hinojosa (D) defeated the incumbent Abbott (R) by a margin of over a million votes.

As of this writing, the video on-demand (VOD) archive of his November 3 Twitch stream had over 64,700 views. Since pivoting toward discussing political topics, Asmongold’s words have landed him in hot water with Twitch on multiple occasions. After receiving his second ban from Twitch in 2026 for comments he made about shooting migrants trying to cross an international border, Asmongold refused to back down from his statements. In short, Asmongold offered no apology for what he said and used his time away from the Amazon-owned streaming site to address lingering health issues.
The US midterm election results were largely considered a rebuke from voters over the Trump administration’s handling of the US economy. Some key factors behind the losses that the Republican Party suffered on election night included the administration’s enacting of tariffs that caused the price of semiconductors used by video game consoles to rise, along with prices on everyday goods like food and paper goods to spike. The results saw seats flip in Republican-held states such as Texas, South Carolina, and Georgia. As of this writing, only a few races remain too close to call, including the US Senate race in Mississippi between Scott Colum (D) and incumbent Cindy Hyde-Smith (R).
