Ubisoft continues its celebration of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, which did well critically and continues to do well commercially, and fans will have a limited time to grab a unique little freebie in honor of the game. Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced has understandably been criticized for its monetization, but a number of small items have been given away via codes like a special shipmate monkey. The latest goes a little deeper on the franchise’s core identity, and perhaps that’s why Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced reviews are so good as well.
After games like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Shadows arguably stretch the franchise’s core identity, Black Flag Resynced brings the Assassins and Templars back into focus—even through a pirate lens, which in and of itself was criticized back in 2013. Regardless, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced has attracted a lot of players, and Ubisoft appears to be hoping those fans will make another pirate-related stop as well.
Grab a Unique Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Symbol Sails/Emblem for Free
Until August 11, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced fans can log into Ubisoft’s open-world multiplayer pirate game Skull and Bones to claim a collaboration skin for the latter, completely free of charge. This collab skin literally lets Skull and Bones players raise the Black Flag, complete with the game’s core insignia. The ship’s sails bring into focus the symbol of the Assassin Brotherhood, complete with a skull representing pirates like Edward Kenway (more so, perhaps, Adewale and Mary Read). It is dubbed the Mark of the Legend ship Emblem, and it’s quite easy to claim in Skull and Bones.

Skull and Bones players simply need to log into the game before August 11 and check their mailbox, where the Ship Emblem will be available and waiting. Understandably, some players may have been put off by the numerous delays, “AAAA” marketing, and everything else that went into Skull and Bones at launch and the various ways it dropped the ball, but free’s free, it honors Kenway’s latest release, and Skull and Bones has gotten better. For those looking for more pirate adventures, Skull and Bones is certainly an option.
That said, while sometimes one video game release has players flock to another, that doesn’t appear to be the case here. It’s just one example, of course, but Skull and Bones‘ Steam player count has been largely unaffected by Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced‘s record-setting Steam release for the franchise. Whatever the disconnect is, it’s clear how loved Black Flag Resynced is by pirate fans.
Those looking for more pirate adventures have other options too, even if Skull and Bones has this freebie over them. Steam recently oversaw two new pirate game releases that are noteworthy: Corsair Cove and Dead Weight. Corsair Cove is a city-builder set in the Golden Age of Piracy, bringing unique gameplay to the beloved historical era, while Dead Weight is more of a fantasy sky pirate game with turn-based combat. They’re different, but that might be exactly what some pirate fans need instead of Ubisoft’s two games (even if Black Flag Resynced is really, really good).
