Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced has been one of the most anticipated remakes of the past few years, and Ubisoft is diving into the hype with a massive treasure hunt to help promote the game. There were nearly constant rumors about Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced leading up to its reveal, and this summer will finally make the long-awaited game a reality.

For many longtime Assassin’s Creed fans, the original Black Flag is one of the best entries in the franchise. Requests for a remake have been happening for years at this point, and now that there is an Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced release date set in stone for July 9, the remake is now closer than ever. There is already plenty of excitement surrounding the game’s summer launch, but Ubisoft has gone above and beyond with its marketing by throwing a real-life treasure hunt into the mix.

Assassin’s Creed Hexe is More Closely Connected to Black Flag Resynced Than You Thought

While the recent showcase focused on Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, it’s almost like the next mainline game, AC Hexe, was lurking in the back.

The treasure hunt was announced on the official Assassin’s Creed Twitter page and is called “Gold and Crystal – The Lost Treasure of Edward Kenway.” The event was created in partnership with treasure hunt creator Unsolved Hunts, and the prize for the lucky winner is worth a whopping $500,000. Fans who have always wanted to feel like Black Flag‘s Edward Kenway will now be able to immerse themselves in the pirate lifestyle.

Gamers who are interested can sign up for the treasure hunt for $39.99. After that, participants will receive the package that kicks off the hunt. It contains 15 riddles that must be solved. Once those are solved, players are tasked with finding the treasure’s location, which is hidden somewhere in the Caribbean. Participants don’t actually have to go to the Caribbean, though. As fun as sailing the Caribbean seas would be, hunters simply have to submit the treasure’s location through the hunt’s online interface. Black Flag Resynced‘s features are aiming to honor the original version’s immersive qualities, and a real-life treasure hunt promo is taking that to the next level.

Pre-ordering Gold and Crystal – The Lost Treasure of Edward Kenway offers seven different package options. Each tier features a copy of Black Flag Resynced, plus extra merch and content. The prices range between $39.99 and $229.99.

Naturally, the first person to successfully guess the location of Edward Kenway’s treasure will be crowned the official winner. What to expect from Black Flag Resynced when it comes to the game’s deeper details and how it feels to play has been a mystery, but the prize for this treasure hunt isn’t being kept a secret. The winner will be rewarded with a chest of specially minted gold coins and a crystal skull that has an opal set into its forehead. This adds up to the coveted $500,000, making the eventual winner one lucky hunter.
