Ubisoft has officially deployed Title Update 1.1.8 for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, reintroducing a fan-favorite mechanic that many community members felt was missing from the initial experience. Launched on February 17, this latest patch focuses heavily on refining Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ core traversal and combat systems. While the game has been available since early 2025, the studio continues to iterate on player feedback to deepen the “Shinobi” and “Samurai” fantasies of protagonists Naoe and Yasuke.

The development team has regularly used in-game events and seasonal updates to keep players interested. These patches usually come out alongside major industry news or new console launches, like the release of the Nintendo Switch 2. Even though the studio now uses roadmaps and community contests to grow the game, these technical fixes are still the main way they keep the title running for the long term.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows Review

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is a spectacular return to form for the franchise, delivering one of the series’ more tightly focused historical adventures.

Manual Jumping and Parkour Improvements Arrive in Title Update 1.1.8

The highlight of the 1.1.8 update is the return of the manual jump, a staple of earlier entries in the franchise that allows for more freedom during exploration. Beyond parkour, the patch introduces several quality-of-life features, including a detailed statistics sheet for loadout optimization and enhanced visual feedback for critical hits. Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ update incorporates a vast range of improvements and new features, which are detailed below.

The technical depth of this patch is evident in the specific tuning of combat perks and character mastery. For example, the “Hawkeye” perk for the Tenzutsu Burst Teppo was adjusted to ensure it only buffed its intended weapon rather than providing a global 50% damage increase. Similarly, the “Assassin Mastery” perk now grants the correct amount of adrenaline on successful assassinations, ensuring that stealth players are properly rewarded for their precision. These granular fixes aim to prevent “unintended” damage stacking that could previously trivialize high-difficulty encounters in Expert or Nightmare modes.

To celebrate the return of manual jumping, Ubisoft has launched the #ACShadowsParkourChallenge. From now until March 8, players can submit unedited, 60-second clips of their most creative parkour runs to YouTube and Twitter for a chance to win prizes like figurines and signed vinyl. The winners of this community contest will be revealed on March 16, just ahead of the game’s first anniversary. This challenge encourages players to master the newly restored “Advanced Parkour” settings and find unique routes through the feudal Japanese settings of Assassin’s Creed: Shadows.

Looking ahead, the Ubisoft “Winter Roadmap” confirms that the Claws of Awaji expansion will finally arrive for the Nintendo Switch 2 on March 10. This add-on serves as a major narrative conclusion for Naoe and Yasuke’s journey, introducing fresh missions and a new area to explore. Following this release, a special one-year anniversary livestream is scheduled for March 20, which the developer promises will include further giveaways and news regarding the future of Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
