A particularly dedicated and skilled Minecraft player has built an incredible recreation of the iconic Shiganshina District from the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The fated city, which became ground zero in terms of the events which kicked off the entire series, has been recreated in what appears to be full-scale stunning detail, catching the attention of thousands upon thousands of Attack on Titan and Minecraft fans.
An epic story of humanity’s struggle for survival, Attack on Titan centers around Eren Yeager, a boy who vows to kill all Titans – massive man-eating humanoids – which ends up nearly bringing about the destruction of the entire world and its inhabitants. Airing over roughly a decade, the anime series finally concluded its severely staggered final season in November 2023. While some fans consider the final arc to be the most emotionally poignant, many believe that Attack on Titan‘s Return to Shiganshina arc is the series’ best.

The incredible Minecraft player’s recreation of the Shiganshina District is a sight to behold. The creator, a YouTuber named stan616, details his immense creation process over the course of a roughly 45-minute video. After explaining their motivation for choosing the location for its story significance, the creator details the numerous references to the anime, starting with key structures like Eren’s house and the Scout Regiment headquarters. While unclear if they utilized any new structures or blocks from Minecraft‘s 1.21 update, the creator mentions design challenges of creating accurate designs within the game’s blocky art style.
As the video progresses, the creator adds plenty of small details to truly bring Shiganshina to life, including elements like streetlamps, market stalls, wall cannons, and various vegetation. The final segment is of a tour through the completed project, which apparently took over 65 days and around 500 hours of work. The finished product is undoubtedly impressive, although Minecraft isn’t the only game where the district has been recreated. A Palworld player is building the Shiganshina District, and though seemingly not as comprehensive, it is still an impressive feat.
Dedicating Hearts to Shiganshina
Taking things a step further, another Attack on Titan fan built Shiganshina using Unreal Engine 5. Impressive in both accuracy and detail, this rendition also includes multiple plumes of smoke and fire, and along with Bertholdt’s Colossal Titan, faithfully recreates the pivotal day which sets the events of Attack on Titan into motion. Given the series’ enduring popularity, it’s only a matter of time before another gamer recreates the walled city or another important area in Minecraft.
