Derek’s love of games came at an early age when his parents first brought home the Nintendo Entertainment System. From then on, countless nights were spent hunting ducks, stomping turtles, exploring far off planets, and combing through dungeons with a trusty sword and shield. Originally growing up exclusively with Nintendo products, Derek’s perspective grew to include other platforms ranging from Sony, to Microsoft, the PC, and more. As his views and opinions grew, so did the desire to connect with other players and video game fans. In 2011, his writing adventure began on his personal blog, eventually joining up with the GameRant crew in 2015. He currently covers everything from features and guides, to the latest breaking video game news.

As fans continue to wait for a new trailer, Rockstar Games announces a special Extended Look event for Grand Theft Auto 6 happening on August 27. Rockstar typically moves at its own pace, likely slower than many fans want, though with the release date for Grand Theft Auto 6 rapidly approaching, the marketing machine seems to be entering a new phase as fans will be getting an extended look at the game later this month.

Anticipation for Grand Theft Auto 6‘s release date has seemingly never been higher, especially coming off of the recent pre-order phase that opened up back on June 25. The NOvember launch date has also had a massive impact on the gaming industry in general, as most major releases set for 2026 have decided to steer clear, making September and October very crowded with new games. Although there’s always the threat and worry of GTA 6 being delayed again out of the blue, things currently seem on pace, especially as Rockstar just announced a special new event.

Grand Theft Auto 6 Extended Look Details

On the official Rockstar Games channel, the studio revealed that it is teaming up with Netflix for a special event called Grand Theft Auto 6: An Extended Look. Surprisingly, the “Extended Look” won’t just be a normal release as Rockstar has teamed up with Netflix for the event. On August 27, fans can “see an extended look at Grand Theft Auto 6”, though what isn’t very clear is if this is simply a look behind the scenes at the development of the game at ZRockstar or if fans are going to be getting deeper gameplay dive.

Thankfully, for those who don’t want to subscribe to Netflix just to see this event, Rockstar also confirmed that the event is launching on the official Rockstar Games YouTube channel and official Grand Theft Auto 6 website starting at 9pm ET on August 27 as well. No other details were given about what fans can expect to see, though many have begun to speculate that the long-anticipated GTA 6 trailer 3 will finally appear, or fans will finally get to see actual gameplay.
