Steam users can currently grab Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 for $39.99, matching its all-time low price on the platform. While the ongoing sale is not the first time that the award-winning RPG dipped to this price level on Valve’s storefront, it presents as good of an opportunity as any for price-conscious Steam users to finally see what all the fuss is about.

Originally launched for PC and current-gen consoles in April 2025, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 became the most-awarded Game of the Year title in tracked GOTY tallies, surpassing Elden Ring. It also set a new record at The Game Awards 2025 by winning nine categories, outperforming The Last of Us Part 2‘s five-year-old record by two accolades. In its first 16 months on the market, Clair Obscur received over a dozen discounts on Steam alone.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Is Back at Its Steam Historical Low

The latest Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Steam sale kicked off in late July 2026, slashing the game’s price by 20%, or $10. The award-winning RPG is thus currently available for $39.99, with the offer officially labeled a “special promotion.” PC gamers users have until August 10 at 8 a.m. PT / 1 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. CET to take advantage of this historically low price. Looking more broadly, the deal marks the seventh time Clair Obscur has dropped from $49.99 to $39.99 on Steam.

The $39.99 price applies only to the base game, while Clair Obscur‘s $59.99 Deluxe Edition remains at full price throughout the summer 2026 sale. However, the separate Deluxe Edition Upgrade DLC is currently 20% off at $8.79. As a result, a content-complete Steam copy of the beloved RPG currently costs $48.78 in total, just $0.78 more than if the Deluxe Edition had received a straightforward 20% discount. The base game’s comparatively low $49.99 list price was a deliberate decision by the Clair Obscur developer geared toward making the project more accessible.

Clair Obscur Keeps Resisting Deeper Discounts

A Trend That Is Likely To Continue for a While Yet

Excluding its equally generous pre-order price cut, Clair Obscur: E33 first dropped to 20% off on Steam and several other platforms in October 2025. Nearly a year later, the decorated RPG continues to resist deeper discounts, which is fairly standard for titles that achieve a similar level of acclaim. Baldur’s Gate 3 offers another recent example of that trend: the recipient of more than 100 GOTY awards marked its third anniversary on August 3, 2026, but has still never dropped below 30% off on Steam.

If its recent pricing fluctuations are any indication, Clair Obscur is likely to receive at least a couple more discounts before 2027 arrives. The Steam Autumn Sale 2026, scheduled to begin on October 1, is one likely opportunity, followed by the Winter Sale on December 17. Whether either event will push Clair Obscur to a new lowest price, however, is far less certain.
