Fallout 76 developer Bethesda has shared what’s in store for the game in the coming year, including a massive expansion for the game that takes players back to Fallout 3‘s Raven Rock. This new roadmap for Fallout 76 outlines upcoming content for each season leading up to the Raven Rock expansion in Summer 2027. The upcoming content sets the stage for the future of the Fallout franchise, including the Fallout 3 and New Vegas remasters.

The Fallout franchise has essentially relied on Fallout 76 to carry its video game representation since the game launched back in 2018. Although the Amazon Prime Fallout TV show has taken off in recent years, there hasn’t been a new Fallout game to piggyback off of this success. Fallout 3 and New Vegas remasters have been confirmed by Bethesda, and Obsidian Entertainment is also working on a brand-new Fallout game, but release dates for these entries are still unclear.

Fallout 76 Gets a New Roadmap for 2027

Bethesda’s newly released roadmap for Fallout 76 outlines the major content updates coming throughout the rest of 2026 and into the first half of 2027. Currently, Fallout 76 is in the midst of its Beware the Blood Moon season, which features an ongoing storyline around a pint-sized murderer known as the Slasher. The different phases of this seasonal questline are slated to release throughout the rest of October, culminating in a battle against the Reborn Pint-Sized Slasher boss.

Fallout 76 Roadmap Late 2026 and Early 2027

  • World Pets Update — Winter 2026
  • Hideouts Update — Spring 2027
  • Raven Rock Update — Summer 2027

The next major update for Fallout 76 after The Slasher brings World Pets to the Appalachian Wasteland. This update will allow players to take their C.A.M.P. Pets with them on adventures around Fallout 76‘s map. Traveling with pets will increase their levels, and players will be able to issue new commands such as “Stay,” “Follow,” “Protect” and even to “Kill.” The update will also introduce Bounties to the Skyline Valley region and serve to explain why the Blue Ridge Caravan Company was forced to end operations there.

In Spring 2027, Fallout 76 is upping the ante on the Bounty system with Hideouts. No longer content with small-time marks, The Ghoul has new larger contracts for Fallout 76 players to take on, leading them to much more dangerous Hideouts. These Hideouts are meant to be a bridge between early endgame content and late-game Raids by offering a challenging dungeon for players to tackle solo or co-op.

Perhaps the most exciting update Fallout 76 has in store for next year adds the iconic Fallout 3 location of Raven Rock as a map expansion for the game. The Raven Rock update is set to act as a prequel to Fallout 3, giving players a glimpse into the Enclave’s operations in the region 200 years before the Lone Wanderer’s clash with the faction. Although nothing is officially confirmed, rumors suggest that this Raven Rock update will naturally lead into the release of Fallout 3 Remastered sometime in the second half of 2027, potentially making next year the biggest the Fallout franchise has seen in nearly a decade.
