Black Ops 7 Launch Numbers Fall Short of Battlefield 6 on Steam

Although Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 managed to get a decent player count on Steam at launch, its peak launch count still fell short of Battlefield 6‘s 24-hour peak on Valve’s platform. As of this writing, the 24-hour peak player count for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 stood at 87,882, or roughly a third of Battlefield 6‘s 24-hour Steam player total.

While Activision’s latest entry launched over a month after Battlefield 6 went live, Black Ops 7‘s launch also coincided with a major update to Call of Duty: Warzone. However, the arrival of Black Ops 7 has not exactly gone to plan for Activision, as the game received a mixed player rating on Steam, and is currently sitting at 58% positive reviews. Additionally, Black Ops 7 was review-bombed on Steam after players aired their grievances with the game’s campaign mode, which requires a consistent Internet connection and does not include a pause function. Player complaints were also targeted at Activision’s alleged use of AI artwork for Black Ops 7‘s Calling Cards.

Black Ops 7’s Initial Player Count Falls Short of Battlefield 6 on Steam

Though it was one of 2025’s most anticipated titles, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 has hit a slight stumbling block within its first day. The 24-hour peak player count for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 stood at 89,595 on Steam as of this writing. Although that number is expected to climb over the weekend, the mark is quite short of Battlefield 6‘s latest 24-hour player total. Though Battlefield 6‘s Steam player count has waned from its all-time peak of 747,440, it still managed a respectable 24-hour peak count of 271,307 from November 14 to 15. Ergo, Black Ops 7‘s Steam player count within its first 24 hours of launch is approximately 30% of Battlefield 6‘s tally.

Another Shooter Has Taken Steam By Storm

However, the combined 24-hour player totals of both Battlefield 6 and Black Ops 7 on Steam were dwarfed by another competitor. Embark Studios’ ARC Raiders held an all-time peak player count of 462,488 on Sunday, November 9. As of this writing, ARC Raiders has a current Steam player count of 390,201 and counting. Though Black Ops 7 and Battlefield 6 have a combined 24-hour total of 360,902 Steam players, ARC Raiders‘ current count still clears both games by 29,299 users.

Of course, the Steam player count of Black Ops 7 does not reflect how many total users are playing on consoles. Considering that Black Ops 7 is available on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, it remains to be seen how many players there truly are across all platforms.
