- The Wrathion statue was canceled due to production challenges. Refunds and free game time were offered to pre-order customers.
- There is no guarantee that the statue will be offered for sale again.
- Production challenges might have been due to higher than anticipated costs.
World of Warcraft has canceled production on the Wrathion statue that was being sold on the Blizzard Gear Store. Due to difficulties producing the statue of this popular World of Warcraft character, Blizzard has ceased production, offering refunds and free game time to those who pre-ordered it.
In November 2023, Blizzard revealed a new collectible statue of Wrathion, the Black Prince and former claimant to the position of Black Dragon Aspect in World of Warcraft. The 14-inch tall statue rendered the popular character in his visage form, featuring battery-powered light-up effects on its base. The statue was available for pre-order on the Blizzard Gear Store for $350 and was planned to ship in August 2024.
World of Warcraft Shares Heartwarming Patch 10.2.5 Epilogue Image
World of Warcraft shares a wholesome image that acts as the perfect cherry to top off one of Patch 10.2.5’s Dragonflight story epilogues.
Unfortunately, it seems the Wrathion statue has encountered issues that will prevent it from being completed. According to the email fans who pre-ordered received, the statue encountered “challenges with production” that led to its untimely cancelation. Luckily, these players will not only receive a full refund on the statue itself, but 30 days of free World of Warcraft game time as added compensation.
The Wrathion WoW Statue Has Been Canceled
The email does say World of Warcraft hopes to be able to offer the statue for sale again in the future, but there is no guarantee it will be able to do so. In the meantime, the Wrathion statue is no longer listed on the Blizzard Gear Store with other WoW statues, so fans shouldn’t get their hopes up for it to come back any time soon.
It is hard to say exactly what caused the production challenges that led to the statue’s cancelation. Most believe the light-up features or other materials needed for the statue may have cost more than the company anticipated, leading them to be unable to match the supply to the demand. At least one completed version of the Wrathion statue was on display during BlizzCon, but it seems like it may be one of the few in existence, at least for the time being.
This isn’t the only sad news Blizzard fans have gotten in recent history. The company is still reeling from the mass Microsoft layoffs, which caused the team working on Blizzard’s unannounced survival game to be fully disbanded. While these layoffs likely had nothing to do with the Wrathion statue’s cancelation, as most of the game’s physical products are not made in-house, seeing production on it stopped alongside Odyssey has disappointed many Blizzard fans who were looking forward to them.
