The Blood of Dawnwalker will take as much as 70 hours to complete, according to developer Rebel Wolves. The figure points to a significantly larger game than initially advertised and suggests a single The Blood of Dawnwalker playthrough could be longer than Cyberpunk 2077 or The Witcher 3.

In August 2025, Rebel Wolves Lead Quest Designer Rafał Jankowski told GameRant that The Blood of Dawnwalker will be around 40 hours long, citing internal estimates. Jankowski cautioned that the figure was preliminary and could still change as the open-world RPG moves closer to release. Eight months later, such a shift now appears to have taken place.

How The Blood of Dawnwalker’s Romance Options Work With Its Calendar System

Blood of Dawnwalker’s romance system will work somewhat differently from typical open-world RPGs due to its Persona-like time system.

Rebel Wolves Nearly Doubles Playthrough Length Estimate for The Blood of Dawnwalker

In a new interview published on the PlayStation Blog in late April 2026, Rebel Wolves CEO Konrad Tomaszkiewicz shared an updated playthrough estimate, indicating that the finished version of The Blood of Dawnwalker may take between 55 and 70 hours to complete. The figure is based on the latest round of internal testing by some of the Polish studio’s staff. At the higher end of the estimate, 70 hours is well above the completion times for the last two games that Rebel Wolves’ leadership worked on while at CD Projekt Red. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt‘s main quest takes approximately 53 hours to finish, whereas Cyberpunk 2077 can be completed in about half that time, according to crowdsourced data.

Unlike Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3, The Blood of Dawnwalker Doesn’t Really Have a Main Quest

Directly comparing Rebel Wolves’ vampire RPG with CD Projekt’s last two titles does not tell the whole story, largely because The Blood of Dawnwalker takes a page from Breath of the Wild in that it does not have a mandatory main quest. More specifically, protagonist Coen is tasked with saving his family and immediately knows where to go, meaning he can theoretically rush the final boss in the same way Link can head straight for the Hyrule Castle and try to save Zelda. By contrast, both The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 require players to complete an array of quests before they can finish the game, even when rushing.

The 55-70-hour playthrough estimate for The Blood of Dawnwalker may therefore be better compared with a complete playthrough of either of CD Projekt’s two latest games rather than just focusing on their main quests. In that respect, the vampire RPG likely will not be longer than The Witcher 3, though it could still prove longer than Cyberpunk 2077. As with many modern open-world RPGs, The Blood of Dawnwalker promises to offer numerous opportunities for meaningful player choices, which could significantly boost its replay value.

After more than four years of development, The Blood of Dawnwalker is now scheduled for release on September 3, 2026. Since Rebel Wolves announced its debut title, the Polish studio has framed it as the first entry in a trilogy that essentially serves as Coen’s origin story. Should the studio stick to a similar timeline for the subsequent entries, the second and third installments could arrive around early 2031 and 2036, respectively.
