During PlayStation’s September State of Play, Sony revealed new PS5 DualSense controllers designed specifically for Grand Theft Auto 6 fans. As one of, if not the biggest upcoming launches in 2026, Sony is attempting to strengthen its position as being the best place to play Grand Theft Auto 6 by revealing two special and limited edition PlayStation 5 DualSense controllers.
With marketing now fully engaged, especially coming on the heels of a special GTA 6 Extended Look on Netflix, the game is continuing to see massive amounts of anticipation from fans, so much so that other studios have tried to completely steer clear of November entirely. When preorders opened back in June, it was reported that the PS5 version was significantly outselling Xbox, and with PS5 Pro enhancements potentially leaking early, Sony is likely looking to capitalize on the excitement by enticing potential buyers with more exclusive merchandise on the PS5.
Grand Theft Auto 6 DualSense Controller Details
As Grand Theft Auto 6 returns to Vice City and the larger Leonida region, Sony revealed special DualSense controllers to match the neon lights of that destination. The black and white limited-edition DualSense wireless controllers each feature a shimmering and color-shifting finish that highlights purple and blue as well as custom palm tree detailing right on the controller and the “VI” logo on the touchpad. Sony indicates that the white controller represents Vice City at daybreak, with the Black controller representing the energy of the city’s nightlife.

Interested players will likely need to act quickly as Sony admits that both controllers will be available in limited quantities. While scalping continues to be an issue with special edition hardware, players may have a bit of hope as the controllers will be available exclusively through direct.playstation.com, and from select retailers in other regions. They’ll be launching alongside GTA 6 on November 19 for $84.99 each. Pre-orders open on September 10 at 7am PT/10am ET.
Special themed controllers are nothing new for Sony, as the DualSense has seen plenty of variations over the years. In fact, Sony just revealed a special PS5 DualSense controller for Marvel’s Wolverine. Similar to the GTA 6 controllers, players have two different options, with a black and “battle yellow” or black and “adamantium silver” option, with both controllers looking like they’ve been slashed by Wolverine. There are also special console bundles available, with a special Marvel’s Wolverine design as well as covers that can be purchased separately and applied to the console. The unique items will also be launching on the same day as the game, set for September 15.
Alongside the DualSense reveal, Sony’s State of Play had plenty of news to share with fans, including the confirmation of a release date for Final Fantasy 7 Revelation. The event also gave Crimson Desert fans their first look at the upcoming Charting the Unknown expansion, as well as shockingly confirming the return of Jin Sakai to Ghost of Yotei as part of its October paid downloadable content.
