Gallipoli, the next game in the long-running World War 1 series from BlackMill Games, is officially set to release on August 20. The upcoming first-person shooter is set on the Middle Eastern front of the war, with Gallipoli representing 1915’s Battle of Gallipoli.
Gallipoli is the fourth game in BlackMill Games’ World War 1 series, after Verdun, Tannenberg, and Isonzo. Each game is inspired by the titular historical battles, featuring authentic weapons, uniforms, and equipment from the period. And while historical accuracy is important to these games, the selling point for many is the tactical shooter gameplay.
Gallipoli Releases August 20 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S
In a brand-new release date trailer, BlackMill Games confirmed that the WW1 game Gallipoli is officially releasing for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S on August 20, 2026. The trailer focuses on player feedback with the message “We’ve heard you,” highlighting improvements to weighty gun sounds, movement & gunplay, crossplay, strategic teamplay, and new roles compared to previous titles in the series.
Gallipoli was initially planned to be released on May 21, and was revealed as such just one month prior to that date. However, a critical technical issue eventually delayed the launch, and only now has the developer been able to commit to a new release date. Hopefully, it has been able to overcome the previous hurdle preventing release, and it will now make its new date without further delay.

Historically, World War 1 has been underrepresented in video games. WW2 games are far more common, with a much wider variety of titles. That said, there are still some great titles set during World War 1, with DICE’s Battlefield 1 perhaps the most famous example of all. Even Call of Duty, the biggest military shooter franchise in the world, does not have a game set in World War 1, despite annual releases over the last two decades. This is part of why the continuation of BlackMill Games’ World War 1 series is so important – it fills a niche that other developers are not willing to right now.

By focusing on one specific battle per game, BlackMill Games has given itself plenty of potential for future titles while staying true to the World War 1 setting the series is known for. It hasn’t even covered some of the war’s most famous battles, such as the Somme or the Battle of the Marne. This focus also allows for extra attention to detail in achieving perfect historical accuracy, whereas many games spread themselves too thin, attempting to depict too many settings at once. It will be interesting to see where BlackMill Games goes next following the release of Gallipoli.
