With some Apex Attachments seemingly missing from the release version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, Activision is attempting to clear up the confusion by providing answers. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is off to a flying start, largely helped by strong critical reviews as well as positive word of mouth thanks to the early access campaign and DMZ gameplay.

As fans are well aware at this point, the Call of Duty series is one that never stands still for too long and Modern Warfare 4 won’t be changing things. Seasonal content is rapidly approaching and while Infinity Ward hasn’t officially detailed any of it yet, rumors have begun to circulate about potential items and content that could be included. The well-received DMZ mode in Modern Warfare 4 could even be seeing more PvP-specific content, with rumors indicating a smaller map being introduced which would force more player confrontation. It also stands to reason that fans will be seeing more Apex Attachments down the road as well.

Where Are The Missing Modern Warfare 4 Apex Attachments?

Following the Modern Warfare 4 beta test weekend, some players noticed that some of the Apex Attachments used, such as the Kastov 762 and the 74U conversion, were not actually available in the release version of the game. In a response on Facebook, it was revealed that some of the beta content, including those missing Apex Attachments, were removed and intended to be reintroduced as seasonal content. What wasn’t revealed at the time is that these seasonal event items were added to the beta much earlier than intended in order to gain feedback from players.

For those who aren’t aware, Apex Attachments in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 represent a powerful new version of each weapon. These are typically unlocked as part of a weapon’s normal progression path, but unlike adding a normal attachment via the Gunsmith feature, Apex Attachments can change how a gun operates, including adding brand-new features or alternate firing modes. Players will need to be at least level 4 to unlock the Create a Class feature in Modern Warfare 4, which unlocks the Gunsmith and the weapon’s progression menu. Apex Attachments can be viewed all the way to the right side of the list.

At launch, there are 28 Apex Attachments in Modern Warfare 4, though as many players noticed, some that were active from the beta are not currently available. While each one adds a new effect or gameplay change to the standard weapon, some are more outlandish than others. For example, the VEL 46 Snap adds a tactical sling to enable rapid transitions between weapons and allows Quickdraw when paired with Overkill. Alternatively, the Astaroth .57 Infiltrator adds an RF scope that detects enemies through walls, though reduces the magazine capacity to just 1. The Cronen Maelstrom will even equip an under barrel guided missile launcher, letting the player guide the projectiles by aiming down the sights.

In fact, players may not have to wait too long to see more Apex Attachments re-enter the game as Season 1 begins on November 6 for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. To date, Infinity Ward hasn’t detailed Season 1 or what will be included, instead focusing on ensuring a smooth launch window for the game. However, fans won’t have to wait long for new content as the fan-favorite Shipment multiplayer map is finally live in-game, followed by some Halloween-flavored game modes with Possession and Infected coming next week.
