With rumors swirling that 2026’s Call of Duty is a new Modern Warfare game from Infinity Ward, one of the franchise’s most popular characters, Ghost, has now appeared in a new soda advertisement.

As part of the Xbox/Fanta partnership, Microsoft released a new video showing Ghost out on a mission when he gets distracted by the sound of a Fanta getting cracked open. He then stares longingly at the soda as a human back home pours it into a glass.

Some have theorized that this could be stealth marketing for the new Call of Duty game coming this year, which is rumored to be Modern Warfare 4 from developer Infinity Ward. But it might just be Xbox using one of Call of Duty’s most recognizable characters to sell a product.

The advertisement spans much more than Call of Duty, as franchises like Halo, World of Warcraft, Forza Horizon 6, and Diablo IV also show up. Each is getting its own specially designed Fanta can, with in-game content available to people who slurp the soda. These new soda cans launched earlier this month.

The Call of Duty rewards include double XP, while Halo: Campaign Evolved players who grab the soda can get a Fanta-themed Master Chief outfit in the game when it launches. Check out GameSpot’s coverage to see more of the in-game bonuses for the new Xbox/Fanta promotion.

In other Xbox news, Microsoft Gaming CEO Asha Sharma said in a memo to staff that Xbox Game Pass has become too expensive for players, and she wants to create a “better value equation.” It’s been reported that the 2025 Game Pass price hike was due in part to new Call of Duty games being included with Game Pass, amid rumors that new Call of Duty games may no longer be included with Game Pass in the future.
