The long-forgotten PlayStation action-adventure title T.R.A.G.: Tactical Rescue Assault Group – Mission of Mercy has been ported to PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2. Interested fans can pick up this action-packed PS1 title right now on the PlayStation Store and Nintendo eShop.

T.R.A.G.: Tactical Rescue Assault Group – Mission of Mercy, or T.R.A.G. for short, was originally released in Japan in December 1998 before making its way to the West in the spring of 1999. T.R.A.G. was originally developed and published by Sunsoft. Outside of North America, T.R.A.G. was called Hard Edge. Drawing inspiration from classic Resident Evil games, T.R.A.G. has multiple endings based on specific criteria and actions that players can take throughout the game’s main story.

More Final Fantasy Remakes Could Be On The Way

Square Enix is considering the possibility of more Final Fantasy remakes in the future, following the success of the developer’s recent remakes.

T.R.A.G. is Back on Switch 2 and PS5

Now, one of the more underrated games in the PS1’s vast library is once again available for fans old and new to enjoy. T.R.A.G.: Tactical Rescue Assault Group – Mission of Mercy is available for $11.99 on the Nintendo eShop and the PlayStation Store as a digital download for PS5. T.R.A.G. is a third-person action-adventure game that gives players control of four different characters. Each character utilizes equipment that is exclusive to them, such as night vision goggles or knives. Characters can be swapped out from the game’s menu, which will be necessary to uncover some of T.R.A.G.‘s secrets and collectibles.

T.R.A.G. is the latest entry in Hamster Corporation’s Console Archives lineup. As a spin-off of the popular Arcade Archives lineup, Console Archives is a brand of periodic home console re-releases from various developers. Ports released under the Console Archives label are currently exclusive to PS5 and Switch 2 as of this writing. Although Arcade Archives has been an active brand since 2014, Console Archives first launched in February 2026. The first games released under the Console Archives brand were the PS1 sports title Cool Boarders and the classic NES action game Ninja Gaiden 2: The Dark Sword of Chaos. Following the initial launch, Console Archives has usually released one new port per week.

Like other titles released under the Console Archives brand, T.R.A.G. will have a few updated features for players to consider. These include screen filters that can emulate the look of CRT TVs, along with customizable button layouts and save states. Other PS1 titles re-released throughout the decade, such as Fear Effect 2: Retro Helix, have included features such as save states and screen filters. Given that T.R.A.G. is Console Archive’s 20th port, it remains to be seen what other retro titles will be released throughout the year.

Find the odd one out before the timer hits zero.

Along with the Console Archives release of T.R.A.G., Sunsoft confirmed earlier this year that it was developing a sequel called Hard Edge – War Zone. Unlike the previous entry, Hard Edge – War Zone is a 4v4 strategy card game that combines deck building with different team actions. Characters from the original T.R.A.G. are playable in Hard Edge – War Zone. Although it has no release date as of this writing, interested players can try out the free Hard Edge – War Zone demo on Steam.
