During Summer Game Fest, Sega finally sped on in with its new reimagining of Crazy Taxi, which is now going global. It’s officially called Crazy Taxi: World Tour, and it’s out sometime next year on Xbox consoles, PC, Switch 2, and PlayStation 5.
You’d be forgiven for not knowing Crazy Taxi is actually a series: most folks know it just by its original arcade and Dreamcast incarnation in which you drive around a San Francisco–inspired city in a taxi picking up fares, taking them where they’re going as fast as possible, and doing ridiculous stunts as you go. Notably, you’re driving along to songs by rock groups like The Offspring, who teased today’s reveal somewhat with the unveiling of their new song with Electric Callboy, “Let the Good Times Roll,” and its cover featuring a taxi:
There were more Crazy Taxi games after that, up to and including a mobile game in 2017, but the heyday of Crazy Taxi has been over for a while.
