This article contains spoilers for Crimson Desert Chapters 3 and 8.A Crimson Desert player online has shared a very important tip for Chapter 8 that will be a life-saver for many players. The main issue stems from the fact that many Crimson Desert players may not necessarily play the game as developer Pearl Abyss anticipates, which can cause particular issues in Chapter 8. However, this tip prevents that entirely.

Crimson Desert has cemented itself as one of the most successful games of the year so far. Despite a more mixed reception amongst critics, gamers have received Pearl Abyss’s latest RPG with open arms. Crimson Desert has passed several massive sales milestones, already breaking the four-million sales mark after just over two weeks. In the wake of its launch, developer Pearl Abyss has been very quick to respond to player feedback, with multiple updates already released to improve the game.

5 Things Crimson Desert Does Better Than The Witcher 3

In many ways, Crimson Desert is the opposite of The Witcher 3. Here’s a list of things the new game does much better than the acclaimed masterpiece.

Make Sure to Respec into Damiane’s Skill Tree Before Reaching the End of Crimson Desert Chapter 8

Redditor UltraGeezer shared a big tip for Crimson Desert Chapter 8, after ignoring Damiane’s gear and skill trees in favor of Kliff. They hinted that when reaching the end of that chapter, players should ensure they respec into her skill tree. Ideally, players should already be used to her move set at that point in the game, and have some of her leveled gear, too. UltraGeezer said that they’ve “been 100% Kliff” in their playthrough, revealing they “paid for that” at the conclusion of Chapter 8. The fight they are referring to is Lucian Bastier, who is fought in the mission “The Blood Coronation.”

In the thread, players lamented some of the design decisions made for Crimson Desert, with one user stating that developer Pearl Abyss “didn’t communicate with each other when making this game it seems.” While players can beat Lucian Bastier with a default Damiane, many feel that the game doesn’t do a good enough job ensuring that they’re well set up for the fight in Chapter 8, and will just allow players who have been playing exclusively as Kliff the entire time to go into the fight underprepared. UltraGeezer describes this as being “an absolutely baffling dev decision.”

One major issue raised in the thread is that Crimson Desert players first get access to Damiane in Chapter 3. However, she is quickly made unavailable to play for multiple chapters, making it almost easy to forget about her when players are forced to tackle the Lucian Bastier fight as her later in the game. Damiane has been raised as a missed opportunity in Crimson Desert, and many players have some broad complaints about how the game handles its multi-protagonist system. The potential difficulty of this Chapter 8 boss fight for players who don’t consciously think about leveling into Damiane’s skill tree is just one issue with how the game handles it.

Given how quickly Pearl Abyss has been addressing Crimson Desert feedback with new game updates, it will be interesting to see if the developer has anything planned to change how the game handles its additional playable characters. While players don’t need to have their hands held throughout their entire game, it’s not ideal that many feel as though there is little motivation or warning to play as Damiane and are left massively struggling at certain parts of the game as a result.
