SEGA has just revealed the next three playable characters heading to Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds in the next two months as part of an ongoing, free update. These new Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds characters will be Angry Birds‘ Red, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii‘s Goro Majima, and Puyo Puyo‘s Arle. Each character will also come with a distinct vehicle inspired by their respective franchise.

Released in September 2025, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds was met with a very strong critical reception. On OpenCritic, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds currently holds a Top Critic Average of 83, with 95% of critics recommending the game. At launch, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds was heavily praised for its deep customization, its vibrant track design, and its strong depth of content. And that’s without the wealth of both free and paid DLCs Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds has received post-launch.

Sonic Rumble Announces Relaunch and Exciting Collab

Sonic Rumble announces relaunch alongside a major update, featuring a new game mode, an exciting collaboration event, and various improvements.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Reveals 3 Free Racers Coming in 2026

  • Red from Angry Birds — Coming April 2026
  • Goro Majima from Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii — Coming April 2026
  • Arle from Puyo Puyo — Coming May 2026

Sometime in April 2026, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is getting two new playable racers in the form of Red and Goro Majima. The poster-child for the 17-year-old Angry Birds franchise, Red will take to the track in his stylish Super Roaster vehicle. Interestingly, Red’s character model appears to be based on his appearance in the 2016 Angry Birds animated movie as opposed to his original video game design. Also arriving in April, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii‘s Captain Goro Majima will be sat behind the wheel of a kart version of his in-game ship, the Goromaru. Then in May 2026, Puyo Puyo‘s Arle will be heading to Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, driving the Twinkle Bayoen.

Alongside these new racers, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is adding a new ‘Sega Racing & Variety’ music pack. This free DLC will bring eight new music tracks to the racing game, including the following:

  • ‘Let’s Go Away’ by Takenobu Mitsuyoshi – Daytona USA
  • ‘Main Theme’ by Hiro – Enduro Racer
  • ‘Magical Sound Shower’ by Hiro – Out Run
  • ‘Like the Wind (Reborn)’ by Sampling Masters MEGA – Power Drift
  • ‘Soul on Desert’ by Jun Senoue – SEGA Rally 2
  • ‘Outride a Crisis’ by Katsuhiro “Funky K.H” Hayashi” – Super Hang-On
  • ‘Like The Wind (B course) Arcade Version by Hiro – Power Drift
  • ‘God Only Knows’ by A-One – Initial D: The Arcade

Every DLC Character in Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds So Far

Red, Majima, and Arle will form the second wave of free characters to come to Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. Though Persona 5‘s Joker, Like a Dragon‘s Ichiban Kasuga, and Hatsune Miku were all added for free in the weeks following CrossWorlds‘ launch, the first official wave of free characters began in December 2025 with the release of NiGHTS, the eponymous protagonist of SEGA’s NiGHTS action game series. NiGHTS was soon followed by Super Monkey Ball‘s AiAi in January 2026, and in February, fans were treated to a two-for-one combo of Tangle the Lemur and Whisper the Wolf, two fairly niche characters who made their debut in the Sonic the Hedgehog comics.

On top of those free characters, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds also offers a paid Season Pass that adds another bevy of crossover characters to the roster. Three paid Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds DLC packs have been released so far, adding SpongeBob SquarePants and Patrick Star, Minecraft‘s Steve, Alex, and Creeper, as well as Pac-Man and his colorful Ghost adversaries. In the next few months, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is also set to receive a Mega Man-themed DLC featuring both Mega Man and Proto Man. DLCs inspired by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem and Avatar: Legends are also set for release later in 2026.
