Sega has revealed some of the new content coming to Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds as part of its plans for year two, including paid characters and free content that will be offered. Released in 2025, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is the latest racing game to feature the hedgehog and his supporting cast. Like previous Sonic racing games, CrossWorlds includes guest characters spanning various Sega properties. The new game takes things even further, with guest characters from other media properties.

At Summer Game Fest, Sega revealed Godzilla and Evangelion content for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. The two properties were the first announced for the game’s year two content, following several other crossovers that have been offered. Year one saw Sega collaborating with a number of outside partners, resulting in racers and stages based on Mega Man, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, SpongeBob SquarePants, and more.

Sega Details Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Year Two Content

  • Godzilla and Evangelion DLC Packs – Nov 2026 to March 2027
  • Bayonetta, McLaren Racing, and Aigis Free Content – Nov 2026 to March 2027
  • Virtual Sanrio Puroland and Segaland – April to Aug 2027
  • Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Persona DLC Packs – Sep to Dec 2027
  • Five Unannounced Free Characters – April to Dec 2027

Sega has now offered further details about what to expect in the year two DLC for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. Season Pass Two will be offered for $29.99 and will include a total of six DLC packs, including the previously announced options based on Godzilla and Evangelion. Those two packs will be offered between November 2026 and March 2027. During that same period, Bayonetta will come to Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds as a free character, alongside a free McLaren Racing collaboration, and Aigis from Persona 3 as a free download. Virtual Sanrio Puroland and Segaland are the next two DLC packs, which will be released between April and August 2027. Lastly, DLC packs based on the Final Fantasy 7 Remake series and Persona are slated to arrive between September and December 2027. Five additional free characters will also make their debut between April and December.

The Virtual Sanrio Puroland will include both a track and two new racers: Hello Kitty and Kuromi. The track will feature several other favorites from Sanrio, including My Melody and Pompompurin. The Segaland DLC will include a track inspired by the history of Sega spanning arcades and consoles. Racers can expect callbacks to a number of beloved games, including Space Harrier, ChuChu Rocket!, Space Channel 5, and more. The DLC pack will feature new vehicles inspired by arcade machines like the Super Megalo, After Burner, and OutRun. Details about the Final Fantasy 7 and Persona DLC packs are limited at this time, but it’s a safe bet that Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will join the list of games where Cloud Strife is playable.

These DLC packs will likely be offered individually, as was the case with the DLC for the first year of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. However, those who purchase Season Pass Two will receive some exclusive content. The Sega Consoles Pack includes machines based on the controllers for the Sega Genesis and Dreamcast, as well as the Saturn console. Those who purchased both Season Passes will also receive Super Shadow as a playable racer, alongside the Super Dark Reaper machine.

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds was a critical success, but the game missed Sega’s internal sales targets. Despite this, the company continues to support the game in a big way. CrossWorlds will be getting a permanent price drop across all platforms, with the standard edition dropping to $39.99, and the digital deluxe being offered for $59.99. That could help to bolster sales ahead of the year two content, but it remains to be seen whether these new collaborations and the cheaper price point will win over anyone still on the fence.
