A Nintendo Switch 2 user stated they did not get what they paid for from Amazon, as they received a Switch Pro Controller rather than a Switch 2 Pro Controller instead and claimed that others are returning the Switch 2 controller box with the wrong controller inside. After posting a warning about the situation, the Switch 2 user stated that they were able to rectify the Pro Controller mix-up.
Originally launched alongside the Switch 2, the Switch 2 Pro Controller allows gamers to play various Switch and Switch 2 titles on Nintendo’s latest console via a traditional control scheme. Like the original Switch’s Pro Controller, the Switch 2 Pro Controller has support for amiibo figures and gyro controls. Additionally, the Switch 2 Pro Controller has a dedicated GameChat button and two back pedals underneath each grip that can be mapped to other buttons. The Switch 2 Pro Controller launched at $84.99, rather than the proposed $79.99, due to the US government’s tariffs on various goods.

A new detail has emerged about the leaked Star Fox game allegedly coming to the Switch 2 later this year, suggesting a new direction for the series.
Nintendo Fan Receives Wrong Controller From Amazon
Since the Switch 2 Pro Controller has some distinct advantages over its original counterpart, it has unfortunately become the target of scammers looking to make a quick buck. Reddit user OutcastKatarn02 posted on the Gaming subreddit that they purchased a Switch 2 Pro Controller on Amazon, only to find that an original Switch Pro Controller was inside the box. OutcastKatarn02 claimed that people were returning the box that the Switch 2 Pro Controller came in with a Switch Pro Controller inside it as a way to get a refund from Amazon while passing off the controller to an unsuspecting customer. OutcastKatarn02 stated that they intended to gift a Switch 2 Pro Controller to a family member for their birthday. The latter informed OutcastKatarn02 that the wrong controller was placed in the box. Fortunately, OutcastKatarn02 was able to get a refund from Amazon after explaining the situation to the retail giant.
Given that the Switch 2 Pro Controller costs $84.99, and the original Switch Pro Controller is currently priced at $79.99, the $5 difference is small but notable. However, the story with OutcastKatarn02 does not end there. A day after posting their dealings with Amazon, OutcastKatarn02 followed up and said in a separate Reddit post that they picked up an actual Switch 2 Pro Controller from a Best Buy retail store. OutcastKatarn02 stated that they opened the box to verify with Best Buy that a Switch 2 Pro Controller was inside.
The Switch 2 Pro Controller Mix-Up Has a Happy Ending
Despite the initial mix-up with Amazon that resulted in a trip to Best Buy, OutcastKatarn02 stated they successfully delivered the Switch 2 Pro Controller to their family member as a belated birthday gift. In response, some Reddit users stated that they would be wary of buying Nintendo games or peripherals from Amazon, and that they would stick to buying directly from Nintendo or another retailer instead. Other users pointed out that, despite the lack of back pedals, the original Switch Pro Controller is fully compatible with the Switch 2, and it can be connected to the system via Bluetooth or a USB-C cable.
