Dambuster Studios, the studio behind Dead Island 2, has good news for the game regarding its future. Dead Island 2 has been through a lot, even before release, but it seems things are looking up.

Back in 2014, Dead Island 2 was revealed to the public at Sony’s E3 press conference by following a runner taking a stroll down the pier and slowly turning into a zombie. Bits and pieces surrounding the game came out over time, yet information became stagnant and the project went into development hell. Different game studios like Sumo Digital and Yager Development took on the title, yet none worked out. Then, in 2019, Deep Silver and Dambuster Studios took over and Dead Island 2 was re-revealed at Gamescom 2022, a full eight years after its original announcement, and released on April 21, 2023.

Slaying the Night Away in Dead Island 2

As mentioned before, Dead Island 2 has seen general praise from players regarding its gory gameplay. As the follow-up to the iconic original Dead Island, it’s delivered on what made fans fall in love with the franchise back in 2011. With the zombie genre of games making a comeback with Dying Light 2 and the Resident Evil 4 remake, Dead Island 2 brings the serious subject into a fun and bloody romp into modern-day Los Angeles, aptly titled Hell-A.

With the last two DLC releases for Dead Island 2 expanding the open-world, fans can only imagine what the team at Dambuster Studios has in store for the game and its fans next.
