DayZ has been an ongoing success in the oftentimes bloated zombie genre. At one point in time, zombie games were all the rage, and they were seemingly everywhere. Many titles have come and gone, but DayZ is one of the few that managed to build some impressive longevity. To this day, DayZ still has a robust player base that is difficult for many games to achieve.

One of the biggest draws of DayZ is its intense survival gameplay. The world of DayZ is incredibly cutthroat, as players not only have to worry about the threat of zombies, but other ruthless players as well. Crafting and being diligent about one’s surroundings is crucial to DayZ, and the game upped the ante with the 2019 Livonia DLC. As the only DLC to be an official expansion to the game outside of mods, Livonia adds an all-new map to the game for players who are wanting a fresh challenge. As the game’s 1.25 update approaches, DayZ and Livonia are set to merge into one sprawling game.

DayZ players have a lot of great mods to choose from, but the following are absolute must-haves.

DayZ and Livonia DLC Merger Explained

The game’s upcoming 1.25 update is set to bring in an exciting new chapter for the game. In order to improve the overall experience for players, DayZ and Livonia will be combined into one big experience, making the massive size of DayZ‘s map and content that much more impressive.

DayZ Players Get More Content For Free

Once the Livonia DLC is folded into the base version of DayZ, players who already own the original version of the game will get this expansion for free. So, once the 1.25 update is complete, players will have a huge new landscape to survive in and explore. DayZ has some of the most threatening zombies in the survival horror genre, and the opportunity to face them in an all-new setting for players who haven’t experienced Livonia yet brings a fresh experience.

Developer Bohemia Interactive’s decision to bring the base game and expansion together in one game is an effort to bring the game’s community closer together while also creating a more cohesive portfolio. There tends to be players focusing on the base DayZ and then players who focus on Livonia, so this will be a great way to merge the communities in order to make gameplay that much more dynamic. DayZ‘s creative lead, Adam Franců, stated that the decision is to “streamline our portfolio and simplify our offerings in anticipation of future developments.”

A Small Price Hike in DayZ’s Future

Although players who already own DayZ will be getting free extra content, the game’s overall price will increase going forward. For those who buy DayZ after the 1.25 update, Adam Franců mentioned that the game would also be getting a “modest” hike in the price. It’s currently unclear what this new price will be, but it is at least known that it will be more economical than the current DayZ/Livonia bundle, which is currently $53.08 USD. Despite the price increase, it’s still nice to know that it will be a cheaper deal overall. DayZ‘s continuous success has been because of its fan base, so this is a great way to give back to its community.

Bringing the base game and the Livonia DLC together will be a great way for DayZ to offer a more expansive experience for the many players who have continued to bring the zombie survival title such success since 2013. As hope for a potential DayZ sequel continues, this new merger will offer plenty of content to tie players over in the future.
