As an online multiplayer game still receiving attention and care after 7 years since its release, Dead by Daylight is swarmed with crossovers and DLC’s to give players access to bonus characters other than the few free ones they gain with their purchase of the game. But, players don’t need to pay a penny more should they not wish to.

Dead By Daylight: Every Survivor, Ranked

Each one of Dead by Daylight’s Survivors has unique Perks that give them an edge against the Killers, but some are better than others.

The free Survivors they gain come with some pretty powerful tools at their disposal in order to help them survive the big bad they find themselves facing off against, with the console players even treated to a few more additions in comparison to the PC version.

9 Ace Visconti (Console)

Open-Handed is His Stand-Out Perk

Dead by Daylight Ace Visconti

Ace Visconti’s Perks

  • Open-Handed:
This perk increases all aura-reading ranges by 8/12/16 meters.
  • Up the Ante:
The player gains 1 token for each Survivor still in the game. Each token applies to a stackable 1/2/3% Luck bonus to all Survivors for a maximum of 3/6/9%.
  • Ace in the Hole:
There is a chance that an add-on will be attached to an item retrieved from a chest. Add-ons can have any rarity level up to Very Rare.

Many of Ace’s perks aren’t particularly helpful, as they increase Luck which is a very niche mechanic that never sees much practical use, or gaining an item with a stronger add-on from chests. Open-Handed is perhaps the one players will gain most use from, as it increases their aura-reading perks.

Perks such as Object of Obsession, Deja Vu and Kindred will now be amplified, allowing players to see auras even when they are further away. But when this fills up two of the four perk slots which may be better off filled with other perks.

8 Jake Park

A Character Designed Around Stealth

Jake Park’s Perks

  • Iron Will:
Grunts of pain are reduced by 50%/75%/100%.
  • Calm Spirit:
The chance that crows will be alerted is reduced by 80%/90%/100%.
  • Saboteur:
The auras of all hooks are revealed within 56 meters of a Survivor that was picked up. The player can sabotage hooks with a toolbox.

Part of the base game, Jake is the character designed for stealth, more so than the other sneaking candidate, Nea. His perks Iron Will and Calm Spirit help him move around the map while even injured in a quiet manner, useful when being hunted down by a tenacious Killer.

Dead By Daylight: Quietest Survivors

Staying quiet is crucial in Dead by Daylight, and thankfully there are some survivors who are naturally stealthy, like these great selections

Saboteur is the odd perk out here, but it is necessary for Survivors that are running Sabotage builds, which can seriously hamper a Killer’s Hook or Kill total, but it also paints a target on the players back. Survivors running this perk need to be confident in their skills in looping Killers, or simply use his other perks to hide from their wrath.

7 David King

Once, David King Had One of the Strongest Perks

David King’s Perks

  • We’re Gonna Live Forever:
Healing speed is increased by 100% when healing an injured Survivor.
  • Dead Hard:
When injured, players can use the ability button to gain Endurance for 0.5 seconds.
  • No Mither:
Players suffer from the Broken effect for the game. Bleeding is suppressed, and grunts of pain are reduced. Players can completely recover from the dying state.

The first canonical LGBT character in the game, David receives a lot of love for his character, but sadly, this otherwise great character is somewhat let down by his lackluster perks. While they can have some very situational uses, or work well when equipped with other specific perks, alone they may not be very strong.

We’re Gonna Live Forever is useful for healing other Survivors quickly, but Dead Hard is difficult to land and easy to bait out when playing Killer, rendering this once strong perk almost useless. No Mither is a perk that players are mostly going to use to have a little fun rather than increase their odds of survival, as they will spend the entire trial with one foot in the grave, unable to heal.

6 Dwight Fairfield

His Perks Encourage Co-Operative Play

Dwight Fairfield’s Perks

  • Bond:
The auras of other Survivors within 20/28/36 meters are revealed.
  • Prove Thyself:
The player gains a stackable 6/8/10% repair speed for each Survivor within 4 meters for a maximum of 30%.
  • Leader:
Increases action speed for all players within 8 meters by 15/20/25%.

One of the base game Survivors, Dwight Fairfield provides perks players should definitely unlock. Bond is nearly essential for knowing where to take Killers to avoid “sandbagging” teammates, Prove Thyself improves Generator repair speed so players can rush Killers, and Leader benefits all nearby teammates.

Though many Dwight’s have an unfortunate reputation of being cowards who hide in a locker as soon as they hear a whiff of a Terror Radius, players should not let this deter them from unlocking these useful perks that encourage teamwork, an essential tool for Survivors.

5 Claudette Morel

Excels at Healing Herself or Others

Claudette Morel’s Perks

  • Empathy:
The auras of injured or dying Survivors within 64, 96, or 128 meters are revealed.
  • Botany Knowledge:
Healing speed is increased by 30, 40, or 50%. Med-Kit efficiency is reduced by 20%.
  • Self-Care:
Players can heal themselves without a Med-Kit at 25, 30, or 35% normal Healing speed.

Claudette’s perks all revolve around the healing mechanic of the game, making her the closest Dead by Daylight will get to having a dedicated healer. As long as players aren’t coming up against Killers like the Plague, having someone on the team focused on healing is not a bad strategy, as most Survivors will need a pick-me up to escape their trial alive.

Though Self-Care is now rendered a weak healing perk that takes a long time for players to patch themselves up, Empathy and Botany Knowledge can help them find injured Survivors and patch them up quickly. But seasoned players who do not need nearly as much healing won’t find much use for these perks.

4 Nea Karlsson

The Street Artist Comes With Parks to Help Her Hide or Escape

Nea Karlsson’s Perks

  • Balanced Landing:
When falling from heights, stagger duration is reduced by 75%, and grunts are completely silenced. Players begin sprinting at 150% of their normal speed for 3 seconds.
  • Urban Evasion:
Movement is increased by 90/95/100% when crouching.
  • Streetwise:
Depletion of items is reduced by 15/20/25% for both the player and any Survivors within 8 meters.

A street artist known for tagging buildings and then escaping the scene of her crime, Nea comes with perks that help her hide or evade the law which can definitely be applied in the trials against Killers.

Urban Evasion is a good fallback perk for players who may not be the best at looping as it helps them stealth around Killers, and Balanced Landing is a good starter exhaustion perk that allows them to fall from a great height without staggering, giving them a much-needed boost of speed to continue fleeing. Streetwise may also have some clutch uses, but it doesn’t measure up against her other perks. Still, Nea is a great survivor to learn the game with.

3 William “Bill” Overbeck

Strong Perks to Increase Odds of Survival

William “Bill” Overbeck’s Perks

  • Left Behind:
The aura of the Hatch is revealed for 24/28/32 meters when the player is the last Survivor in the game.
  • Borrowed Time:
After unhooking a Survivor, that Survivor is protected by Endurance for 8/10/12 seconds, and it extends their Haste by 10 seconds.
  • Unbreakable:
Players can completely recover from the Dying state once per game, and recovery speed is increased by 25/30/35%.

From Left 4 Dead to Dead by Daylight, Bill might just be the unluckiest gaming character of all time as he is dragged from one nightmare survival scenario to the next. Bereft of guns, Bill has to rely on his skills to evade the Killer and escape.

While skills may not be as useful as a gun or grenade, they do have their uses. Left Behind allows him to see the hatch instead of taking his chances with the Exit Gates, Unbreakable means he can pick himself up if he is slugged, which many Killers now opt to do in this new meta, and Borrowed Time increases the time the basekit Endurance lasts, protecting Survivors from being tunneled for longer.

2 Feng Min (Console)

One of the Best Exhaustion Perks in the Game

Feng Min’s Perks

  • Technician:
Failing a skill check while repairing a generator prevents an explosion and applies both the default regression rate and an additional regression rate of 5/4/3%. This perk also reduces generator repairing noise by 8 meters.
  • Lithe:
Players move at 150% of their normal speed for 3 seconds after performing a rushed action on a vault. It causes the Exhausted effect for 60/50/40 seconds.
  • Alert:
The Killer’s aura is revealed to the player for 3/4/5 seconds after they break a pallet or wall, or damage a generator.

As the Survivor counterpart to the Doctor, Feng Min comes free with consoles, but PC players will need to shell out to make use of this Survivor, her effective perks, and her very expansive catalog of stylish cosmetics.

Dead by Daylight: Every Exhaustion Perk, Ranked

Exhaustion perks are some of the strongest survivor perks in Dead by Daylight. Here are all of them, ranked.

Though Technician is only a crutch perk useful to new players learning the game, Alert has some use in keeping tabs on the Killer and what they are doing if not chasing Survivors, and Lithe stands out as one of the best exhaustion perks. Vaulting is an essential part of keeping a chase going for as long as they can, and Lithe gives players even more use, as they gain a huge speed boost. And when teamed with Dance With Me and Quick and Quiet, Killers can easily lose track of the vaulting Survivor.

1 Meg Thomas

The Star Athlete Has Great Stamina

Meg Thomas’s Perks

  • Quick and Quiet:
Loud noise notifications from rushing vaults or exiting lockers are completely suppressed.
  • Sprint Burst:
Players can run at 150% of their normal speed for 3 seconds.
  • Adrenaline:
Players instantly heal 1 health state when Exit Gates are powered and can run at 150% of their normal speed.

Meg Thomas is part of the original quartet, and still considered a strong Survivor to choose by most standards. Before being abducted by the Entity, Meg was a track star whose speed and athleticism she brought to the trials.

Quick and Quiet is a perk that teams well with other vault perks such as Lithe or Dance with Me, and can help throw Killers off their trail. Adrenaline has the chance to give players a clutch heal and speed boost to help them survive the end of the trial and Sprint Burst is a tough perk to manage, but can be essential when escaping Killers who spring up on unsuspecting players.
