- The Death Stranding sequel will be officially titled Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, a reliable leaker has said.
- The second trailer for Death Stranding 2 is likely to be released in the next 15 days, as per the same source.
- Sony held a February State of Play stream in four of the past five years.
Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding sequel will be titled Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, a reliable industry insider has said. The source also shared some additional information about the upcoming game that suggests more official Death Stranding 2 news will finally be coming in 2024.
Death Stranding 2 was originally announced at The Game Awards 2022 with an extended trailer composed of in-engine cutscenes. In a true Kojima fashion, the video offered more questions than answers about the Death Stranding sequel despite having a runtime of over four minutes. Little else has been revealed about the game ever since.
Death Stranding 2’s Purported Title Has a Clear Connection to the Original
And though Kojima Productions’ radio silence continues, Dealabs’ Billbil-kun has now shared some new information about the game, including its purportedly official title: Death Stranding 2 – On The Beach. While that might sound like a fairly peculiar moniker to those not familiar with the series’ lore, it clearly ties into the original Death Stranding that literally spent a lot of time on the Beach.
Second Death Stranding 2 Trailer Is Supposedly Coming Soon
Billbil-kun also reports that the game’s second trailer is set to drop in the immediate future, having forecast that to happen at some point in the next 15 days, so no later than early February. That claim dovetails with the fact Sony has held PlayStation State of Play broadcasts in February for four of the past five years. The only time it deviated from that pattern was back in 2020, when most of its product timelines were pushed back due to the global pandemic. Industry insider Jeff Grubb also believes a new State of Play is on the horizon, having said as much during an early January episode of the Giant Bombcast podcast.
As for the video itself, the second Death Stranding 2 trailer might have been in the works for a long while now. Specifically, Kojima was spotted editing a State of Play-related Premiere Pro project back in late September, although that video still hasn’t seen the light of day.
The famous game designer last mentioned Death Stranding 2 on New Year’s Eve, when he revealed that the Japanese voice-over work on the project will begin in 2024. Most of the English voice-overs are believed to be completed at this point, not least because Norman Reedus previously let it slip that this phase of the project started all the way back in the first half of 2022. Aside from Reedus, Lea Seydoux and Troy Baker are also confirmed to be returning for the upcoming sequel, which is rumored to be targeting a 2025 release.
Death Stranding 2
Death Stranding 2 is the continuation of Komija’s Death Stranding franchise, bringing back a familiar face in Sam Porter (played by Norman Reedus). The release looks to continue the story surrounding the courier and the many dangers the Chiral Network faces.
