Lollipop Chainsaw has earned itself a cult reputation for its zany and over-the-top take on zombie action, a legacy mostly untarnished by a mixed response to the game’s 2024 remaster. That should, in theory, make news of protagonist Juliet’s return more than a decade after the original an exciting prospect for long-time fans. But little has been confirmed so far beyond its unveiling at Tokyo Game Show 2026 and the fact that none of the leading figures from the original game’s staff will be involved in the new sequel.
Fan discussion surrounding the project began after its groan-inducing surprise announcement in July 2025. An anime adaptation was also confirmed at the time by the new development team at Dragami Games. They said they would honor “the spirit of the original work” while ensuring the game was not subject to “excessive creative restrictions in the name of DEI.”
After more than a year of silence, a few fresh details were finally shared today, including news of the game receiving not only its grand unveiling at this month’s Tokyo Game Show, but also its first playable demo. With Sega serving as the game’s distribution partner in Japan and Southeast Asia, the game will be displayed at their booth at the show, with cosplayer PeachyMilky attending the show dressed as Juliet Starling.

Additionally, a stage show set to take place both on Friday and Saturday will offer more information on the game from the game’s director, Mr. Nasu, and former Luminous Productions COO and current CEO of JP Universe, Hajime Tabata, whose also currently leading work on OwnWorld, an AI-driven RPG game engine.
Though Dragami Games did work on the recent remaster, it would appear that lead figures from the original game will not return for this sequel. The only named figure working on the game so far is its director, while Grasshopper, the original game’s developer, as well as Suda51 and Tomo Ikeda, the original directors, are not listed amongst those involved in the Lollipop Chainsaw sequel. Though Dragami have assured fans that some people involved in the first game’s development will be involved in this new project, no names have been shared.
Otherwise, all we know comes from the promotional image, which showcases Juliet in a more conservative-looking letterman jacket as she faces zombie hands reaching up to grab her.
