After the recent official announcement that Bungie would resume work on Destiny 2, the game is already getting an update. The looter-shooter’s death was announced on May 21 of this year, with the Monument of Triumph update being released on June 9, marking the end of live service and overall support for the game, which was meant to be left online and playable. Despite that, and despite the fact that Bungie’s and Sony’s decision seemed set in stone, fans remained very vocal, and Destiny 2 was recently given a second life.
Destiny 2 Gets New Update With Patch Notes
In a post called “The Next Chapter for Bungie,” Poria Torkan, Bungie’s Studio Head, and Josh Deane, Head of Product and General Manager of Marathon, stated that Destiny 2 will unvault all content and add it back to the game for free. Not only that, but this will also be the start of a new era for the series, with Bungie being committed to making more Destiny. That promise seems to have solid foundations, as today, Destiny 2 got a new update out of the blue. Patch 9.7.0.5 is a backend update more than actual content, but it’s the very first sign of life from the game since Bungie went radio silent about it in the weeks after Monument of Triumph.
