Diablo 4 players can currently unlock a new pet cosmetic, completely free of charge. However, this free Diablo 4 cosmetic is part of a cross-game promotion with World of Warcraft: Midnight, meaning players will have to hop into the latest expansion for Blizzard’s MMORPG to claim the reward.

Diablo 4 offers plenty of opportunities for players to earn free cosmetics. Although many cosmetics in the game are locked behind a paywall, those who want to unlock free goodies can do so on occasion, provided they do not miss their windows of opportunity. Free cosmetics are usually reserved for major events, such as the Diablo 4 Goblin Greedings event that allowed players to claim a few holiday-themed items.

Diablo 4 Season 11’s Best Class is Now Official

The best class throughout Diablo 4 Season 11 is revealed as the latest season approaches the finish line.

Diablo 4 Players Can Get a Free Pet by Playing WoW: Midnight

Blizzard has revealed the Bawkhaus pet in Diablo 4: a small chicken carrying an even smaller house on its back. It’s a very strange design that will appeal to those who prefer the quirky side of Diablo 4 cosmetics. To get the new pet, players must progress through the storyline of the World of Warcraft: Midnight expansion. Upon completing its introduction questline and earning the “Echoes of Midnight” achievement, the Bawkhaus pet will be unlocked. Some gamers will have been planning to play the new World of Warcraft expansion anyway, so earning the Bawkhaus pet was just a nice extra bonus. However, for those who weren’t intending to play, the chance to unlock a free Diablo 4 cosmetic may be the push they need to pick up the latest expansion for Blizzard’s long-running MMORPG. The studio has not confirmed how long the Bawkhaus will be available, so players should make sure to unlock it as soon as possible.

As part of the promotion campaign for World of Warcraft: Midnight, Blizzard has been offering free cosmetics in various games to those who play. As well as Diablo 4‘s Bawkhaus pet, there’s the new Devourer Genji skin in Overwatch, as well as the Crimson War Bear mount in Heroes of the Storm. Those cosmetics are also unlocked by getting the “Echoes of Midnight” achievement, so anyone who has a few Blizzard games in their rotation can do quite well by playing the early stages of the new World of Warcraft expansion.

For many players, cosmetics are a big part of Diablo 4. Blizzard has faced criticism in the past over the price of some Diablo 4 cosmetics, a complaint that still holds true to this day. Most of the items released in the in-game store cost a significant amount of Platinum, the game’s premium currency. With this in mind, it’s good to see that Blizzard is still committed to offering opportunities for players to earn some cosmetic items, completely free of charge.

Next month, Blizzard is releasing Diablo 4‘s Lord of Hatred expansion, which will add the Paladin and Warlock classes. Prior to that, it is also set to launch Season 12, with more details on that in due course. Lord of Hatred will be the most significant content drop for the game since Vessel of Hatred in 2024, making it a very exciting period for fans of the game. The last few seasons have been very well-received by players, and it feels as though the game is in as strong a place as it has ever been. With the next expansion just around the corner, it should continue to go from strength to strength.
