Diablo 4 players on the Season 5 PTR server have found a more powerful version of the Butcher, promising to end runs even faster than its current version already does. Diablo fans already have a long history with the Butcher, an enemy which has been featured in numerous games throughout the franchise. However, the Butcher’s inclusion as a rare RNG dungeon boss in Diablo 4 has already proven to be a big hit with players, even if it is the cause of plenty of deaths and the end of many hardcore runs.

The Loot Reborn update for Diablo 4 has been a huge hit, revitalizing the game with an influx of players thanks to plenty of new features and quality of life changes to existing systems and mechanics. There’s already plenty of anticipation for Season 5, as Blizzard recently opened an official PTR server for PC players to test out some of the upcoming features ahead of its launch, which also gave fans an early look at new unique gear and mechanics. In fact, the PRT server has also revealed a few unannounced changes as well, including a powerful new variant of an already terrifying encounter sometimes found within the many dungeons of Diablo 4.

Diablo 4 Releases New Hotfix Update for Season 5 PTR

Blizzard releases a hotfix for the Diablo 4 Season 5 PTR which enhances the new game mode, refines item management, and fixes an annoying bug.

The Butcher has made a career of terrorizing Diablo players, typically as a boss character, though recently, its role has shifted. Instead of being a static encounter, The Butcher has become a sort of boogeyman in Diablo 4′s dungeons, a low chance encounter of spawning when opening doors in dungeons, typically resulting in a surprise for players, with many falling to its cleavers. For those who aren’t ready, The Butcher represents a tough fight as it moves fast and hits hard, though this encounter seems to be getting a major boost when Season 5 hits.

How The Butcher Is Changing in Diablo 4 Season 5

While running around on the Season 5 PTR server, a content creator named Rizarjay captured an encounter with an enemy known as Burning Butcher during a playthrough of the upcoming Diablo 4 endgame activity known as The Infernal Hordes. The enhanced enemy comes bursting into the battle leaving behind a wake of fire, with its horns and skin looking like they’ve been dipped in magma. Rizarjay is able to dispatch the enemy fairly quickly, though the creator responded to a fan in the comments by indicating that it was only a Tier 3 Infernal Horde and the Barbarian character they were using was already overpowered with gear from the live server, so when players have to start from scratch, the encounter will likely prove to be more challenging.

There appears to be a lot on the horizon to be excited about for fans of Diablo 4. For many players, the upcoming Vessel of Hatred expansion is set to continue the game’s main narrative while also introducing the brand new Spiritborn class. In the near term, Season 5 looks to continue the momentum started with Loot Reborn by continuing to add new features, gear, as well as tweaking current in-game mechanics. For example, Treasure Goblins in Diablo 4 will be dropping better quality loot, with Blizzard confirming 1-3 Legendary items, 2-6 Rare items, and other items like elixers.
