Fans of Silent Hill: Downpour can look forward to experiencing some cut content from the game thanks to the work of one gamer. This effort will also bring Silent Hill: Downpour to PCs.

Silent Hill: Downpour was one of the last games the series saw before it went into a long sleep. 2012 was a busy year for the franchise, and saw the release of Silent Hill: Downpour, Silent Hill: Book of Memories, and the Silent Hill HD Collection, with the three experiencing varying levels of success. Aside from the release of PT, the game series went completely dormant after that up until 2024, with the launch of the Silent Hill 2 remake.

Silent Hill Downpour Is Coming to PC With New Content

Now, a fan called Indie_RU has revealed that they’re working on bringing Silent Hill: Downpour to PC. The game never saw an official PC release, making this an exciting moment for fans of the series, but this version also restores content that was cut from the game but still hidden within the files. The finished version will reportedly restore deleted cutscenes, dialogue, sidequests, and a boss fight against the Monocle Man. The boss fight in particular may be exciting for fans of the game, as a trailer for Downpour back in the day showed a glimpse of the fight, but the battle was nowhere to be found in the retail release.

Unfortunately, the PC port isn’t out just yet, with a planned release in either September or October 2026. Considering the game is over 14 years old now, though, chances are fans won’t mind waiting a bit longer to finally experience the cut content. Silent Hill: Downpour originally only released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles, even though many others in the franchise released for PC and even some Nintendo systems. As a result, there are many gamers who have likely never had a chance to try out Downpour, so this PC port could open up one of the older games for some newer fans.

Although anything is possible, it’s likely that this will be the only port that Silent Hill: Downpour sees, official or otherwise, at least for the forseeable future. While a remake of the original Silent Hill is currently in development, Downpour received mixed reviews at launch, and Konami has only ported or remastered a few games in the overall franchise. On top of that, Downpour developer Vatra Games shut down just a few months after the release of the game.

Building upon plans to turn Silent Hill into an annual release franchise, new game Silent Hill: Townfall will be releasing around the same time as Downpour‘s PC port. Gamers will be able to experience the new title starting on September 24, and similar to Downpour, the title is being worked on by a non-Japanese developer, with Scottish studio Screen Burn Interactive picking up the reins this time. Whether it can live up to the success of Silent Hill f and the Silent Hill 2 remake remains to be seen, but survival horror fans have plenty of recent and upcoming releases to keep them occupied with Silent Hill.
