Bandai Namco has confirmed four fighters for the roster of Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero, who are all classic members of the usual roster. The upcoming Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero is a highly anticipated title for fans of the long-running franchise, as it is a return to the classic Budokai Tenkaichi arena fighting game series. The roster of Sparking Zero has been an aspect that fans have been fervently looking forward to, as it usually features a number of fighters from across the franchise’s history.

Earlier this March, several new fighters were confirmed for Sparking Zero, with 11 fighters hailing from both the Dragon Ball Z and Super anime being playable. These fighters include members of the Ginyu Force from the Namek Saga, Jeice and Burter, to the Pride Troopers from the Tournament of Power arc, Dyspo and Toppo. Based on a new image set posted by Bandai Namco, four characters have been confirmed for the arena fighter, this time coming from the earlier parts of the Z anime.

Rumor: Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero Release Date Could Be Announced Soon

Some recent updates from Bandai Namco suggest that the upcoming Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero could get a release date in the near future.

These characters were revealed in a new bilibili post by Bandai Namco, ahead of posts on other social media sites. Posted in Chinese, this post shows off four characters for the game’s roster: Master Roshi, Yamcha, Piccolo, and Kid Gohan. While Roshi and Piccolo have previously been revealed for the game’s roster in earlier trailers, these are different forms of the classic characters. The Budokai Tenkaichi series has traditionally split characters into multiple versions, with this game being no different, as seen with Goku and Vegeta having multiple forms in Sparking Zero.

Characters Confirmed for Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero

  • Master Roshi (Base)
  • Yamcha
  • Piccolo (Early)
  • Kid Gohan

Kid Gohan is playable, as per usual, as many Dragon Ball games have traditionally made Gohan playable in his kid, pre-teen, and teenaged selves. Yamcha’s appearance will likely be based on his appearances in both the original Dragon Ball and Z, as seen with his Wolf Fang Fist technique and Spirit Ball. The screenshot of Piccolo is likely based on his appearances in the Saiyan and Namek Sagas since Piccolo has his mouth laser, traditional fighting uniform, and turban. Lastly, while Master Roshi was already confirmed in Sparking Zero‘s Power vs. Speed trailer, he was only shown in his muscular Full Power form to highlight the theme. This version of Roshi has him forgo the muscular form and focuses on his skills, such as his paralyzing technique.

Much like how the last Sparking Zero trailer and showcase had a theme of “Power vs. Speed,” these pictures are focused on the relationship between disciple and master. This isn’t too surprising, as Yamcha is a student of Master Roshi, and Gohan is a student of Piccolo. It’s likely the next showcase for Sparking Zero will highlight even more fighters that have a master-student relationship.
