Square Enix released a new patch for Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined on all platforms for players to download, though the update contained no new content. Instead, the latest Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined patch fixed two issues that allowed players to enter specific areas without needing to hand over or possess some necessary items.
True to its name, Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined is a modernized remake of the 2000 PlayStation JRPG Dragon Quest 7: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. With Dragon Quest series creator Yuji Horii aiding in the game’s design, Dragon Quest 7 incorporated an intricate Vocation class system, similar to the Job system of the Final Fantasy franchise. The Vocation system allows players to shape how each of DQ7‘s playable cast performs in battle. Dragon Quest 7 received a 3DS remake in 2013, with the current Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined arriving nearly 26 years after the PlayStation version first launched.

Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined Patch Fixes Two Issues With the Game
Two months after Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined hit store shelves, Square Enix released a new update to fix some lingering issues. Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined Patch 1.2.0 went live on April 7 on all current-gen platforms, including PC and the Switch 2. Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined‘s 1.2.0 update does not contain any new content for players to peruse, so fans looking for something new to do in the game are out of luck. Instead, Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined‘s new patch fixes two issues that allowed players to skip certain facets of the game. One of the issues that was fixed was in the Past Hubble region of Dragon Quest 7‘s world map, where players could pass through The Grand Conjuratorium checkpoint without giving a soldier a specific key item.
Additionally, Square Enix addressed an issue where players could enter the Labyrinth of Wind without needing to possess a required item. Before these issues were fixed, players could sequence-skip their way through parts of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined‘s main story and obtain some armor from these locations before they were intended. It remains to be seen how effective Square Enix’s latest update is at fixing these issues or if new ones crop up following the patch.
Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined Remains a Divisive Entry
Despite being widely available on PC and consoles, Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined is a controversial release. Ahead of its launch, Square Enix revealed that Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined would not include some content from the original PlayStation release. The cuts included features such as casinos, the Excellence Grading Organization, and some scenarios in specific locations, such as Providence and El Ciclo. While the changes left some fans disappointed, none of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined’s cut content had any heavy ties to the story.

Although Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined is a divisive entry, it is still one of the top mainline Dragon Quest titles to date. As of this writing, the series’ next entry, Dragon Quest 12, is still in development. With Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined still receiving updates, time will tell what else Square Enix will do to keep fans engaged.
