Dragon’s Dogma 2: Best Armor For Magick Defense

Looking to protect yourself from magic in Dragon’s Dogma 2? These are the best armor pieces for the job.

However, a fake arisen has taken their spot in Vernworth, the capital of Vernmund. The player will have to meet up with a new ally to stitch up a plan to return the arisen to their rightful place in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

How To Get The Quest

You have arrived in Vernworth, capital of Vermund and seat of its Sovran. As the Arisen, it would seem that the throne is yours to claim by right. Is this where your destiny begins?

Seat of the Sovran is a main quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2 that the player will start early on in their game. This quest will be unlocked as the player goes through the game on its own while still in Melve. However, the quest only really starts after reaching Vernworth.

To start this quest, once the player is in Vernworth, they will be taken into private quarters to speak with Captain Brant. He knows that the player is the real arisen and wants to concoct a plan to ensure they’re recognized as such.

Reaching Vernworth

To even start this quest, the player must first reach Vernworth, which is quite far from the player’s location. The player is probably extremely under-leveled, so to reach Vernworth, it is best to travel with Gregor and his men to avoid the majority of enemy fights along the way.

If the player decides to go with Gregor, they simply need to speak to him and tell him they’re ready to go. He should be standing around the entrance of the city. The player just has to follow him and his men as they will lead the way.

The player will encounter regular enemies along the way, as usual. Eventually, the player and Gregor will reach a gate that leads into the Borderland Campground where an Oxcart was meant to meet them, but since it’s not here, the player continues on foot.

As the player continues, they will eventually come face to face with a Cyclop. To be able to continue safely ahead, he will have to be defeated. Luckily for the player, the Cyclops is already halfway through his first health bar and the player will have Gregor’s aid in defeating him. This giant creature can also be tripped, which can aid in defeating it. Once the first health bar is done, another full one will replace it. However, once the player is around halfway through the second one, a torrent will come and finish off the Cyclops.

Once the Cyclops is down, the player will be very close to their goal of reaching Vernworth. Gregor also hands over the player a mark of his trust, which can grant them an audience with Captain Brant.

Now, the Ox Cart is here and the player has two options: travel on their own or accompany Gregor and his men on the Ox Cart. Accompanying Gregor is the easiest and safest way to reach Vernworth. It’s also the fastest way.

Alternatively, the player can make their own way on foot to Vernworth but it will take more time and put the player in danger, alongside their pawn.

Either way, the player should be almost at their destination.

Inside of Vernworth

Upon reaching the city of Vernworth, the player will be met with Captain Brant, a man the player might remember from the beginning of the game, if they paid attention. Gregor will vouch for the player, saying they are the arisen, as many people saw them summon a pawn from a riftstone.

However, Captain Brant says that there is only one arisen and that person is in the palace already. He then takes the player into questioning. Once in private, Captain Brant’s real intentions are revealed. He believes the player is the true arisen but acts like the player was a fake to not attract the attention of the Queen.

He explains the situation to the player, specifically concerning the Queen, Disa, who is not happy about the arisen being found. The arrival of the arisen would rob her and her son of their positions. Due to that, Queen Disa ordered the abduction of the player, robbed them of their memory, and sold them into slavery. And instead of the arisen, she prepared a replacement who would act as her puppet.

Pointed Fangs are an essential upgrade material in Dragon’s Dogma 2, but they can be hard to come by.

Captain Brant will conduct a plan to put the player on their rightful throne and will ask to be met at the tavern at night.

Should You Help The Young Man Or Not?

Now that the player is done conversing with Captain Brant, they have to exit the room. The second they step outside, they will see a young man running away while being chased by a guard. The guard will ask the player if they saw an urchin in a cap run past. The player has the option to lie to protect the young man, or to tell the truth.

The man who just ran past the player is an important character later on. The player should lie and protect him, as it will give the player access to a special quest later on, called The Ornate Box Quest.

Speaking to Captain Brant

The player can now explore the city freely, and once ready, they can go speak to Captain Brant when night falls.

The player can doze off on the bench to pass time if needed.

The player should head to the Stardrop Inn. The player should spot Captain Brant and speak to him, he will take the player into a more private room to avoid watchful ears. He explains to the player that if the Queen denounces the player as a fake arisen, nobody would doubt her. That’s why the player needs to take some steps before announcing to everyone they’re the arisen.

He explains to the player that they should do this at the coronation, however, entering is no easy task and is reserved for a scant few. To gain entry, the player will have to complete some quests, notably:

With that, the Seat of the Sovran quest reaches its end and the player will have to take on the quests from Captain Brant to continue the adventure.

Dragon Dogma 2 is now available to play on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation 5.
