Capcom has released a brand-new update for Dragon’s Dogma 2 on PlayStation 5 and PC, which addresses one of the biggest complaints since the game was released. It hasn’t been long since Dragon’s Dogma 2 was first released, but Capcom is already improving the game massively.

Prior to its release, the hype for Dragon’s Dogma 2 was enormous, but come launch day, many players were disappointed. The general sentiment from fans who were let down is that the microtransaction model in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is too aggressive for a single-player game, and the restriction of only having one saved game at a time in an RPG was far too restrictive. It’s early days, but Capcom seems to be listening, as shown by this initial patch.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Puts a Fun Spin on a Tired Trope

Dragon’s Dogma 2 is far from a conventional RPG, and there’s one feature that puts a refreshing new spin on a now-tired entertainment industry trope.

The patch notes for Update 1.050 were posted to the official Dragon’s Dogma 2 site, giving gamers a rundown of what to expect the next time they play the game. While the update brings most miscellaneous fixes, the one big change is the added option to start a new game when save data already exists. Previously, players who wanted to start a new game in Dragon’s Dogma 2 had to delete their entire save file. All of the best RPGs ever are designed to be replayed, so requiring players to delete save files was a huge restriction in Dragon’s Dogma 2, but luckily, this is no longer the case.

As of right now, the update is only available on the PC and PlayStation 5 versions of the game, and according to Capcom, the Xbox Series X/S 1.050 update is “planned in the next few days.” The update itself includes several changes exclusive to both PC and PlayStation 5, so it’s safe to assume that several Xbox-exclusive bugs will also be fixed when the patch arrives for that platform. Crucially, this isn’t the update that will fix FPS issues in Dragon’s Dogma 2, with Capcom claiming that “Improvements to frame rate are planned for future updates.”

It seems as though Capcom is already planning for the future of Dragon’s Dogma 2. Recently, Capcom put a new Dragon’s Dogma 2 DLC survey, asking gamers multiple questions about what they would be looking for in any potential expansions to the game. While the launch DLC for Dragon’s Dogma 2 has proven to be controversial so far, with players able to purchase things like fast travel, character revives, and appearance changes, hopefully a more comprehensive expansion will receive a better reception.
